Im trying to find a tech support page for Dakota Digital. I have a 1982 FJ with the VTX 62T and having trouble getting the oil pressure guage to work. Does anyone have a link? Thank you in Advance.

I love the stock look of the Dakota Digital gauges. The best part is mine went in with my Cummins R2.8 install so Odometer will read correctly :)

We're using aluminum overlays and only passing screws/switches through stock dash holes so it looks clean and doesn't alter the original dash at all.

Someone from this thread might be able to answer my Dakota Digital Speedo Sensor Question. Thanks!

Can you mount the speedo sensor directly to the t-case?

Or do you have to use the cable extension?

You have to use the cable extension adapter. At least I did. Dakota digital is awesome in their tech dept so if you call them, they’ll be able to give you the specific reasons but I think it converts the type of cable end to proper one for their sensor sending unit

Unfortunately they were not very helpful when I called them. They basically said, "Try it without the cable extension. If it doesn't work, you need the cable extension."

The ends/threads of the sensor and cable extension are identical (7/8"-18 threads) and both require using the brass tang adapter. But I don't see why the cable extension is necessary.

The cable extension supplied with the kit has the same threads on both ends, and is intended to be used when "clearance is an issue." But in this case, clearance is not an issue.

Not the first time I've seen this. The extensions is necessary only in applications where the sending unit needs to be spaced farther way from the transfer case. This is often the case with the cable for the parking brake being in the way.

Hi all, I don't want to hi jack this thread but I am a huge fan of the Dakota digital gauges and that is why I chose to be a dealer for them :) If anyone is interested in these please message me for special MUD pricing. I would be happy to help!

Thanks!

I’m interested in a unit if you’re still a dealer. carolinacajun7347@yahoo.com

I love my Dakoka Digital, but the only issue I have is the fuel gauge. I cannot seem to get it dialed in to read anything beyond full or empty. Anyone have advice?

Just finished up the install of a Dakota Digital instrument cluster in my 76 FJ40. Went well. Am very happy with it- gauges work nicely and the lighting is awesome. I gained a clock, and now have a functional tach and set of gauges in the cluster rather than aftermarket units on and under the dash. The install was straightforward as their installation booklet is pretty comprehensive. I mounted the control unit in my glovebox and the SW1 and SW2 switches in the dash witin easy reach of the driver. Picked up the turn signal and high beam indicator lights from the original cluster pigtail, and tied into the parking light circuit for the lighting. I was lucky enough to have a spare gas tank float unit here and tied that into the conrol box temprarily to calibrate the fuel gauge. Worked well. The speedometer and odometer were easy to calibrate. Took about twelve hours or so to get everything in, wired and calibrated. I might not be the fastest guy in the world but stayed at it pretty well and tried to make everything look neat. Overall I think it is a great improvement for my 40 and would recommend it to anyone.
So do you have any issues with the oil pressure sender....sometimes mine pegs high...then goes back to normal...I’ve read it’s a grounding issue, but where?????

Never witnessed that problem my install has been glitch free for quite a few years now.

The extension cables were normally required when using the Stealth Conversion 2 or 4 pulse VSS units because they were too fat to fit up behind the parking brake backing plate.

Hi! Factory tank, OEM replacement sender from CCOT. Am going to check the ground later today, but am assuming I have to set a specific OHM range, which the computer is not self-discovering, I don't think.

What year? The early senders don’t like the Dakota.

Lots of help in this thread. Figuring out where to put the junction box and running wires was the hardest part. I ended up putting it in the glove box and just using velcro to mount it for now.
