T-minus one day until they're in my hands. @ginericLC and I are headed over tomorrow to grab 'em. Woot!

Adding that extra F engine in the bed was just too much for a 3/4 ton. It was on the bump stops. So out it went. That trailer is a little over 5000lbs and the axle is really far back so we had to move the 55s back after we drove a bit. It was much better after moving them back. He did well on his first pig purchase. Anyone notice what is on that F engine? These are pretty nice 55s better than a lot of them I've seen.

GinericLC,

Good job on the tow! I've got an 18' triple axle trailer that works well, maybe adding that third axle up front would really help. How long is that one? I'd feel damn lucky to be buying those two wagons.

I think the deck is 38 feet. It is huge and it sucks to drive through the city. And it isn't too much fun to back up. Combine that with the Megacab wheelbase and it takes some planning to get through small alleys backing up. It makes me like my little 16 foot deck double axle single car trailer even more. But this was 290 mile trip so doing it twice would have added a lot of time. As it was it took me 10 hours from when we left his place until I was home.

I think you are obligated to the Brotherhood to not cut up that donor Pig. :)
I don't think that is intention.

Yo! First off, a massive, huge, immeasurable thanks to Eric (@ginericLC ) for his help this weekend, and also to @ridefastflyfar for lending some straps and chains. You saw the pictures - I was in awe that we were able to get them both loaded, transported, and unloaded so "easily". To Eric's point I'll soon be heading back to grab the spare/blown engine - worth grabbing that AC compressor if nothing else.

I spent yesterday morning and this afternoon CLEANING and running inventory. On the Red & White one, I went from a push broom... to a dust pan... shop vac, then finally soapy rags to get the dirt out. The back window has been down for three years so there was a LOT of earth in there. I tore out the crappy peeling headliner while I was at it.

As you can see, the incredibly low amount of body rot on this one continues to amaze me! The green and white one is much rougher, but rest easy @bobm I'm not planning to hack it apart if I don't need to. Regarding the green and white one, I'll jump into that with the next post.

Did you get it cleaned up before your wife arrived home? Is it running yet :) I think it is better in person than it is in the photos. I have to go to Eagle Wednesday. I'll see if I can squeeze in that seat bottom and headliner.

... yep, you knew the plan! Although thoroughly cleaning a couple non-running vehicles is like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, said deck chairs are very important indeed to the wife and neighbors ;). I'll PM you about your potential trip on Wednesday - at this point I'm lacking a functional radiator so we'll have to chat about what you need that I have and vice versa.

Now, about the green & white one, the back was chalk full of all sorts of goodies. Aside from the MIA radiator, I seem to have not only every engine accessory but also oodles of extra trim pieces (handles, ashtrays, vents, cargo panels, etc.). It's been a treasure hunt.

So yeah, the amount of cancer and decay in this one is more what I'd call "typical". Rockers, floor pans, gutters, etc. The tail gate is in surprisingly good shape, as are most of the doors. I did manage to throw the hood and grill back on to make for better yard art!

Hmm... can't upload pics at this moment (getting a funny error here on MUD). I was going to share some of the "goodies" I found, but I'll just tell you. For interior I found a full set of floor mats - front, rear, cargo - all completely intact. Serious score. I also found two OEM starters, extra fuel filters, an extra window gear + motor, an immaculate rear heater, what appears to be a brand new distributor, and all the seat belts a man could ever want. There are (9) interior panels, door and cargo, but only a few have withstood the test of weather and time. And finally, I found the last remaining hub cab, so I now have a full set + spare of the original wheels w/ caps. It just keeps getting better!

My immediate plan is to clean up the engine bay on the Red & White one, install a radiator and battery and whatever else I find is missing, and try to fire her up. We'll see how that goes.

I've finally named the Red and White one, in fact. My five-year-old daughter (turning six next week) is mighty fond of good ol' rock and roll. We've been jamming out to the Eagles of Death Metal lately, and one of her favorite tunes is Miss Alissa. So there you go... :pig: Miss Alissa :pig:

Ah! Photo problem solved - reduced the resolution/file-size on each. Anyways, some pictures of goodies attached.
