We drove Rootbeer to lunch, stopped at the ford stealership to get some parts for Raul, stowing the parts, Rootbeer is idling/loping. One of the service writers came trotting over, holding up his phone, starts babbling about how he had one, regrets selling it, way  rig, mine was just like this, even the same color, except it had the stock 6cyl not the V8 like this one has! Had to inform him that this one has the stock 6cyl, well,,, kinda.:hillbilly:

Rootbeer made it to 500mi without missing a beat. So, time for the valve adjustment, oil change, have an oil leak to work, etc. Then will need a test wheeling drive!:hillbilly:

Wheeling? Did someone say wheeling?

Oh, I forgot, this is CSC, it'll probably be in a parking lot somewhere in Tempe. Or I won't find out about the actual run until it happens, or just before.

Carry on.

Maybe we could let you know, where is your favorite parking lot?

How about the one for Bartlett Lake, I believe it's called Log Corral...?

Of course, I already have plans for this weekend... oddly, my family likes to plan ahead a bit more than 24 hours in advance.

Thanksgiving is only 6 weeks away...

Great build!

Couple questions - You could have used an FJ60 brake booster to avoid intake interference with the stock brake booster right?

Also, I love the air cleaner from the FJ62! I hate the cone filter that others have used! Were you able to fit it in there and keep the blower motor? It looks like it but it's hard to tell.

Lastly, thank you for showing detail on how to do wiring crimps etc.! I need to find one of those crimping tools and get after it! Or I just need to practice up more on my soldering skills...:hhmm:

Maybe? We had a couple of boosters available, looked like all of them would have had issues? So, used what was there, it had the smallest OD.

Heater blower and carbon canister are in their stock locations.

Dad was an EE, so started soldering very early, pretty handy with an iron. But I rarely solder on rig wiring, good crimps are more reliable in automotive applications.

Jim & Lorna came to visit. Worked a bit on Rootbeer, mostly stuff not worthy of pix, like 500mi service, valve adj, oil change, etc.

In it's past, the driver door had suffered a maiming accident with a lift. Resulting in the top of the door being bent down and the window no longer closing. We made an attempt at straightening, failed.

Plan B was the green door, a spare that had some slight rust issues. Had a hole on the inside and the outside lower corner, a few other spots that were just surface.

Cut the rust out, bent, welded in patches.

Turned out well, not perfect, but plenty good for a trail door? Treated the rest of the rust spots and It's off to be painted.

How are you going to match the Root Beer paint?

Paint

Good question. Might match the exterior with a dull finish and the interior of the door with a different blend?
My plan is to repaint the exterior in the future, not a perfect job but suitable for a trail rig. I am open to suggestions.

Jim
