I couldn't be any happier with my MT Sliders.....

Ops just noticed the "Step" in your orrigional post... We'll technically you can use them as.... Ahhh nevermind.

Slee comes to mind. What other options are there?
Here are the ones I have found. These are the ones I have found that market themselves as step sliders, certainly not everything that is probably out there:
Slee: http://www.sleeoffroad.com/products/80_sliders_steps.htm
Bump It Offroad: http://bumpitoffroad.com/products/80/stepsliders/info.html - Also have option to put plates on a tube style, see Newps, post #9.
Marlin Crawler: http://www.marlincrawler.com/armor/side/rock-slider
Cruisin Off Road (Canada): http://www.cruisinoffroad.com/ - step sliders not shown, but available, see 86tuning's post (#7)
Iron Pig Off Road: http://www.ironpigoffroad.com/ - Might be semi-custom, see Luke111's post #16.

In Marlin Crawler's case, they are tubes with a partial step on them. I think there are optional additional plates. With some of the other tube style sliders, especially kits, you could change the angle and add a plate easily for a better step.

I personally like the Bump It Offroad sliders because they look so much like stock which I like. Unfortunately for me they are only made for the 95-97 80 series.

Mine are made by Cruisin' in Chilliwack BC Canada. Strong 2x6 box tubing with a nice cat skid plate too.

Affordable steps that replace the factory running boards.

edit: bolt on, will support weight of truck and has done so many times. Profile is similar to stock running boards. Price was actually less than $775 because there is slightly less labor involved with these vs the tube sliders which require precision bending and stuff to form the outriggers.

The step sliders are not shown on the website. The ones I have aren't prototypes, they're an actual production unit but by special request.

I got the MT sliders and they are good for a adult human to use as a step but are not dog friendly. My boxer's leg slipped between the bars and my heart stopped as he tumbled out. Luckily he got his leg free as he fell and didn't get hurt. I now lift the dogs in and out of the cruiser. If I had to do it over again I would be looking for a step type as well like the Slee version.

I had Mike make some step sliders for my 100 Series that are different then what is on his website. He makes them wide enough that they actually work as a step, something the factory running boards were lacking. If I had to do it over again I would have put step sliders on my 80 too.

Are the MTs a solid rectangular tube? on the web site it looks like it is just a three sided bar.

Thanks

This is why I still help my little girl out of the truck everytime. With the amount of lift I have and looking at them just spells disaster. BUT I would not run any other slider. They rock.

The base is clam shell design with the tube coming off them. They are a high pitch angle, stepping up you really are on the bars alone and not the base. Again I love mine and wouldn't run another, but they are not the greatest "step".

best bumper next?:grinpimp:

MT's "wing" design is explained on here and was on their old website
its not rectangular stock but formed and laser cut plate with internal ribbing for strength. pretty sure there is a pic of its construction floating around but I had no luck searching LT or helocat post from their introduction days

their website does a good job explaining and pic 3 shows what they are talking about

Any more info on those? How much did they cost? Website? Looks nice!

I added a link in my post above. Looks like $775 + shipping from Canada.

/Off Topic
I haven't been to Moscow since I graduated in 1999. I need to make it back there someday to see how much it has changed.

Sorry was on my phone, and that app makes it difficult to edit posts.

Slightly less than $775 + shipping because rectangular tube requires less labor than the bent tube outriggers on the regular sliders. Powdercoated black. Bolt-on, and totally removable to service the exhaust.

I picked mine up from his shop, and he was awesome to deal with, and even put them on for me.

Had mine for years. Only mod on mine is a bit of stair-step or skateboard traction tape on the top edge. I put the 1" wide tape about 1/4" in from the outer edge to reduce chipping and peeling of the tape.

Step Slider

I went with IPOR's step slider...had them make them 1 inch wider and I finished them off with 3M grip tape. Well made , incredible stout and welded on. Pretty much a no brainier with IPOR only 50 miles down the highway

I really like my MT's. I agree with others that having the openings covered is a plus for dogs and kids.

Bump-Its are really nice looking as well.

Is there any way you would have a pic looking down at the slider with the door open? I am stuck between the MTs and the bump it off roads... Thanks

I can snap some pics tomorrow if no one has some handy.
