In your opinion: The best step sliders

I can snap some pics tomorrow if no one has some handy.

I think i am just going to bite the bullet and order me some MTs and put some grip tape on the damn things...I cant find one negative complaint about the MTs and they look very good on the 80..better than the other slider steps..and the sale right not is awesome!

I figure, since I dont have kids or a dog yet, i might as well get the MTs and then build a step if push comes to shove....

Thanks for all the input!

Price? IPOR's site is lacking in all the details with sliders :frown:

I went with IPOR's step slider...had them make them 1 inch wider and I finished them off with 3M grip tape. Well made , incredible stout and welded on. Pretty much a no brainier with IPOR only 50 miles down the highway

What I am most interested in is how much lower then the door are these sliders? My wife is having issues getting in and out of the truck with heels on and is asking me for something stupid like the AMP retractable steps. I refuse to go that route. But if there is a "step slider" that is a decent distance lower than the door I might have a win with the wifey.

You need some HeathBuilts .... aka walking eagles two position slider

Is there any way you would have a pic looking down at the slider with the door open? I am stuck between the MTs and the bump it off roads... Thanks

Sorry. My cruiser is at shop 2,000 miles away at the moment. Other than lifting the dogs in and out I love the MT sliders. If you go that route they usually offer sales on them several times a year.

They do need to improve their site.... $899.00 installed ..paint is additional $190... All step sliders are welded on and the build strength and quality is the same as any high end slider. Spoke to Lance at IPOR this morning and he indicated they will not ship the step sliders due to possible fitment issues if one has change their exhaust so they prefer to have the truck in house to make the attachment points fit each truck... If you ask him he just might make the step and send the attachment supports that you can weld on. The sliders they ship are Metal Tech ...The pictures show how they sit in relation to the lower portion of the truck.

This is why I still help my little girl out of the truck everytime. With the amount of lift I have and looking at them just spells disaster. BUT I would not run any other slider. They rock.

The base is clam shell design with the tube coming off them. They are a high pitch angle, stepping up you really are on the bars alone and not the base. Again I love mine and wouldn't run another, but they are not the greatest "step".

I really like my MT's. I agree with others that having the openings covered is a plus for dogs and kids.

Bump-Its are really nice looking as well.

I just ordered the MTs and they should arrive on Tue-Wed! Stoked! :steer::cheers:...

Thanks for all the input guys! I will post some pics when i get them on...I need some help anyone in vegas area willing to with some slider intall for some beer??

If you don't have any help grab a couple of 5gal buckets, couple 2x6 or 4x4 short pieces of wood and a floor jack you can get them in place solo. Of course a friend or helper makes things easier ;)

Has anyone asked MT if they will modify their sliders to work as steps? Even just a lower angle on their current ones would be a good starting point. Seems like the tradeoff is a little clearance, but for those of us who need the steps it seems worth it.

I doubt they would want to make a dedicated step slider (or they already would have), but this change hopefully wouldn't be a big problem.

You are not gaining or losing any clearance by the angle of the tube. The bottom bar is still in the same place. What it really boils down to is aesthetics. IMOP the angled up one looks better but does not function very well as a step.

Finally: Sliders are sweet!

Thanks for all the inputs...I really do like the MT sliders. I chose them over the more "step" like options because of the great reviews, look, and sale. I am definitely not disappointed....

I didnt have any help available so I had to install solo. Having another set of hands would have been great but i was able to manage with 2 five gal buckets full of rocks and some mechanic ramps. I was able to set the slider on the buckets close to the desired location, then use the ramps to adjust the height enough to throw the first u bolt on. It took me a few hours for the first one only because the back Driver Side "angled u-bolt" would not get into position. The Passenger side took about half as long, and it would have been faster but one of the Cat Guard bolts was not willing to go in easily and i didnt want to force it (yes i did clean the threads and pre installed the bolts to prep for install)

Very nice. What's the tread width on those tires, to get an idea of slider standoff from body?
