I hate to say it but the headache and up front cost of going after WIX would likely make the venture hardly worth the effort. Even though by principal I would fight them to the death... Its going to cost.
If he has a case it doesn't matter though, it won't be his money that pays the attorney. He needs to know if he has a chance of nailing them on the crappy filter, but if he really doesn't and it's all conjecture, he might as well just put the dog poop in the bag and light it on fire on the CEO of Wix' doorstep, because that is about as much justice as he will see.
On a side note, I am kinda confused by why the ebay listing for the 10 filters doesn't list the 1994 Land Cruiser as a fit.

I've used wix in the past on my 80,after hearing this I won't use them anymore I do like their oil filters but I won't use them because they will not stand behind their product it seems they were looking for any excuse just to get out this, typical corporate BS, you could try and fight them but the bottom line is they probably have much better lawyers than you can afford
What do you use? I bought a couple of Bosches from Rock Auto and I have one left. They seem fine. Oil looks good and I am not using any.
I had a WIX fuel filter that I bought for a Tacoma that I have since sold. It looked the same as my Land Cruiser filter, the bracket was just at a different angle. I chickened out and bought a Toyota filter for the 1FZ-FE when I rebuilt it. Not sure if that was worth it or not. I figured it was a pain to get to, so why not just get the OEM one? Maybe that was dumb. Who knows?
You now have the perfect excuse to drop a V8 in that bad boy!
Man, this really sucks, Stephen! I was so excited about all the work you and Jason put in to that engine - and in such a short time. I have all Toyota OEM in my cruisers, but now I'm going to make sure my wife uses OEM in her car, too. Don't give up the fight, brother. Wix needs to do the right thing.

The thread also points out all the bad things we do thinking we are doing the best we can. My 80 is doomed running the viscosity on the cap(5w-30), wrong OEM filter, a Ford 90° filter adapter and before the wrong OEM filter I used WIX exclusively

I would flame wix on every youtube advertisement.i would start multiple threads on why wix sucks on different forums. That is cheesy corporate rules. If only u had recorded that managers comments.

Used wix before on my Duramax. No longer...sucks For sure. 
I was running Napa gold (WIX). I am now rebuilding my engine due to lost oil pressure. Was it the filter? Maybe. I'll never know. But I also read another thread on here a couple weeks ago ( I'd have to try and find it) With at least 2-3 other members running Napa Gold's who lost oil pressure and are now rebuilding. Pretty sure I'll just run Toyota now.
