When I say idiots guide, I mean I (An Idiot) install the Holley Sniper fuel injection system into my FJ40. It’s a 1972, with a 1978 2F... if anyone has feedback or questions fire away. I’m already admitting I’m stupid, so if you come to that conclusion watching the episode, I already warned you...

Brother, next time you need to remove wires from connectors, please use a terminal removal tool. As for the non used 10 pin connector, on the separate connector end, remove all wires using a terminal removal tool, then reinstall plugs into all 10 locations (see orange items in photo below). Then install this connector onto the Sniper harness, now you have a weather tight connection. Thus no moisture can mess with the unused wires.

I'm no expert on the Sniper installation, but I did install mine after plenty of research. My '77 uses a FJ60 dizzy & coil. I connected the pink ignition wire to the positive (+) side of the coil, see below.

The below pic shows what I was describing in post #8.

Note: I have well over 5K miles & 18 months with a Sniper, and I'm still happy with my decision to install it.

On the '77 40, does installing the '60 distributor and coil mean that the stock ignitor is removed? It looks like that from your pic, that I believe is a coil mounted where the stock ignitor mounts?

Yes. I use the FJ60 distributor and it's correlating coil & igniter. I just installed the FJ60 coil in the same location as the original coil, see below.

I bought my plugs from McMaster-Carr, but had to cut them to fit. They were item #9171T17.

NOTE: The Sniper plug is a Delphi 150 series.

I don’t know what it is about wiring, but it scares the hell out of me. Then we filmed “step 3” of the Holley Sniper FJ40 install… and it clicked. Dumb people can do wiring. It doesn’t have to be that hard. Observe as I transform from pupa to wiring butterfly.

Yes, seriously! You're proving that perseverance and a sense of humor can overcome a lack of expertise. Too many people never summon the nerve to work on their own vehicles because they think they have to be master mechanics with a full set of Snap-on tools. You're showing otherwise. I love it.
