It has been a minute since I have been able to catch up on MUD.

I am sitting in the new-to-us house enjoying a quiet Sunday morning.

Moving is quite the ordeal! We lived at the last place for 15 years. That is the longest I have lived at one address. That gave me lots of time to accumulate stuff that I should have gotten rid of. So lots of boxes to unpack! It should be a great summer.
I'm cold this morning because houses in South Africa don't have central heating...

So, more coffee is in order.

Oh, and Pigs are rare as **** here.

Yup, still here, still driving the boring KZ120 Prado... Have a farm now, so I bought a 1981 Isuzu KB21 diesel 2WD to do farm work...

It's a pecan farm... But we've added chickens, a market garden, and I'm a beekeeper...

Nice!!!

@Pigeaten grows walnuts

How are your bees doing? I have a friend who has hives and she said hers are not doing well.
South African colonies are very healthy... This September-October I'll really expand that part of our business...

👋🏻
Been a min, we did a 4400km road trip almost to Manitoba to see extended family in our M56, that car sure eats the miles up.
No dog pics here though…

100% way to do it! Nothing fancy just fire and meat. My favorite way to cook!

My wood pile soaked with rain coming again in hour or two. Sadly probably gonna have to use the Yoder pellet smoker.

We have used this pit in the rain before but it's no fun. Rain sucks all the heat out. Add wet wood to the equation and it's a non starter.

We threw this pit together with solid concrete blocks and pavers 3 years ago as an experiment and have never taken the next step to make it permanent. So far it's been easy enough to just replace blocks as they crack from the heat.

Photos were from yesterday. Briskets were wrapped last night and are resting in a warming oven. Plan is to only eat one or two today and to vacuum seal and freeze the others for one of our tailgates this fall. No point in firing up the pit unless you fill it up!

That’s how I created mine years ago. Smoked whole hog over contraption I built with cinder blocks. Just now moved it and created grill due to new house project.

Redneck engineering and it has served us well many times!
