I quit my day job today. I gave notice last week but as of noon today I am an unemployed bum. I was only at that firm for 5 months and it just wasn't going to work out. Prior to joining this company I had started my own survey company and had been working smaller projects on the weekends. I had the idea that I would wait a few years before trying to go 100% self employed. A few years turned into 7 months I guess. My plan is to work the rest of the year through my company. I have enough work already booked that would match what I would make at the other firm. It will also give me the flexibility to make my own schedule during the holidays and during the 4th quarter that is the busiest time of the year for my wife. It is unfamiliar territory for me. Over the last week plus I found myself daydreaming of not even having an alarm set on my phone. Getting up when ever and making a huge pot of coffee, then strolling to my computer and crank away at my own pace. Knowing that if I fell like busting my hump, it is going to benefit me 100% and not just go to some corporate schmuck's pocket.

This also means that if I am not working 7 days a week, I can finally get back to working on the pig. I miss that PITA so much.
Congrats Doomer!!!

@Pigeaten That looks like the time when 2x4’s were really 2”x4”… I can feel the pain of your renovation just by looking at these photos. My parents were rehab people and moved every five or 10 years as they purchased a different house and started from scratch. There was one they probably should’ve torn down but never did and it was a beautiful home when they were finished…they typically need an incredibly deep pocket and frothed with headaches, suppliers and delays. You have my upmost respect.

I am simply converting my old 2 1/2 car garage to a TV room, Thanks to the pole barn. I’m doing it myself because I have no major needs beyond demolition, new floor joists, masonry to block up the old garage doors, sub-floors, top floors, electrical, lighting, insulation, heating, a/c, sheet rock, decorative flooring, finish carpentry and my labor. Although I do admit, the labor is getting to me.

On my 3rd box of framing / flooring nails for the nail guns …6000 nails???. Trying to finish by Christmas but I don’t see it happening … I don’t see that on your side either…big project you’re engaged in, best of luck

I’ve got a special wife, just took romantic stroll outside. I carry the 410, Kim the light on our dark time armadillo hunt, no luck but we will take another stroll after our movie is done.

Well it sounds like you are pretty good at entertaining the women-folk!

After 40 years of marriage, i think we can handle it. Plus if i get antsy, farm is 5 min away, always something to check on there
You can always spend the night outside, looking at the stars, amirite?

Thermal scope. It’s a game changer.

Good storms here last night, wife and took morning drive since we had some significant lightening.

Found this old tree on south side that has somehow made it decades until last night. More weather today.

Pups enjoyed themselves for sure.
