Ive torn apart my lares box, found a couple problems..

First of all, this seal is completely trashed

Secondly, and a much much bigger problem.. the 105 shaft is too thick at the top will not fit inside the lares cap

Looking back at boxrockets 105 thread, this box i bought is s***.. no bearing in the cap, just a small bushing.. ive shot myself in the foot with cheap parts, youd think for the money we spend on these trucks(especially me) id learn these lessons. Im disappointed in myself, and im out the $420 for this box anyway now..

I had no issues installing my 105 shaft into my box except not putting a new O-ring in the top.
I have a small seep now.

I located and acquired a stock “toyoda” steering box to use for a build. Working drilling holes and tapping threads this afternoon, as well as the 105 shaft. Then im going to rebuild it with a seal kit and cap the ports with 6an caps.

This is helpful, I'm looking to tap my steering box soon too. Also have a rebuild kit ready to go. Just a few posts back there is a multitude of different locations for the hole locations where they were drilled and tapped. Would like to get that bit of info a little bit more clear!

Edit: you'll see above one of the holes is drilled in the rounded "cap" end of the cast body, the other is drilled on the flat flange next to where the bolted plate that has the adjustment screw attaches. It looks like the flange location is drilled to match a passage that has fluid through it.

Then most are drilled for the same place in the toyoda logo.

Too many options! Would like to slim it down a bit.

I finished my rebuild, installed the 105 and drilled and tapped in forward facing positions..

Going to install it soon and cap the fittings to see how good it is in rebuilt form, incase i messed it up.. after thats turns out okay ill glue the ram on the axle and tierod, then make up some hoses!

Steering box installed, along with reservoir and cooler.. test drove the truck a couple times, the steering is SOOO much tighter than before, night and day difference. Then i mounted the ram and made some hoses, the steering is even more tight, almost darty, its impressive. Im going to windrock next weekend, we’ll test it real good!!

Came across this build today on IG (@ longxdog). Not sure if he's on MUD but wanted to put the pics here as a future reference. Quite impressive bit of fab work. Running Front Range knuckles, crossover steering, raised/extended panhard AND coil springs. I know this was no easy task to figure out!

Nice job keeping the Panhard long and flat, looks good.
Have you stretched it's legs to see if it hits the frame?
I stretched the legs on mine in the drive way only to find on bounce I hit the pass frame.

Work looks nice but not seeing the point if your not doing a three link 🤷‍♂️
