All the info has been gone over countless times, the pump should have been ordered with the ram that way you you have a working set 🤷‍♂️
Pump, ram, and reservoir are a nice combo.

Well, yes but... 😳

Let this thread stand as proof that even pumps from modern LT V8 engines in full size work trucks that power hydroboost brakes along with steering duties aren't up to the challenge, even when relieved of the hydroboost duties.

Tell us you do have or ordered the PSC reservoir.
The reservoir is a must have especially with a high volume pump.

Apparently a 1FZ-FE pump is better than a modern LT full size truck pump. It not stellar but get the job done with an over sized reservoir and can even power hydro boost brakes at the same time. 😎

I ran a hydro booster and hydro assist on the 93 until I killed that rig. The new build will run the same.

Braking was never an issue but steering at dead idle left a bit to be desired in certain situations.

Trivia question, for the future while I await the arrival of my new pump...

Anyone had a look inside of these pumps?

Would it be possible to simply drill and tap the opposite side for the output, and then plug the original hole?

Seems a shame for these to just waste away in my drawer.

I have no idea
What reservoir are you using ?

I’m curious as to why you are installing hydro assist on a rig that you say is a driver and overlander mostly?

Valid question, I suppose.

Ever get in a place, where you know the line, but physically can't steer to it because your 37's are aired down and in a crack? This is dad's cruiser, and he's 84 with deteriorating shoulders/strength.

And this was his last vehicle, when he lived in moab. Sold it 2 years ago.

We're headed back to moab in a week and we dont want to find out "we should have..." By then, it's too late 🤣

very convincing but mostly amazing story! If I can still be wheeling at 84 I’d want hydro assist too. I’m beside myself ….. I’ve met a few OLD dudes on the trail over the years and I was impressed every time.

The PSC reservoir will allow better flow and filtration. You won’t regret that purchase.

He has tree trunk arms! Get after it!

Thanks for the motivation. But I couldn't see $300 more for the reservoir. You can check it out week after next😉

I think this will do. We'll, mostly. I'm gonna change the 45 at the pump to a 90 as soon as it gets here😃

Had to change the original -10 to a -12 90. The original welded in fitting had enough material to tap some threads into afyer cutting it off and drilling it out.

Not to burst your bubble. But if that is one of the cheap reservoirs you find all around, they are complete garbage. I have thrown many away which solves most problems. They are not great at separating air out of the fluid, will leak out the cap at any angle when you keep the fluid high enough to not aerate from the return port. If the fluid isn't 100% clear your going backwards, even if the pump is quiet.

If you still have the problem after the new pump, head to the junkyard and see if you can find a factory remote reservoir. You'll save yourself headaches.

Great seeing your dad enjoying and working on things at 84!

Failing shoulders you say? But still lifting axles overhead to drop into that housing!

If I'm still doing stuff like that at 70, I'll be happy. At 84? That's impressive
Well, we do have an overhead crane in the shop for the heavy lifting, but yea, he does pretty good. 👍

Thanks for the tip. I figured for the $230 savings, I'd give it a shot. I'll probably look for some stainless mesh to put in it to help knock down the bubbles.

Chase Bay reservoiris is what members have good lock with at a more affordable price 😁

So we’re you running the last pump with out a reservoir ?

No. I had this.

That's a 5/8 hose along with the 3/8. If I'm being honest, I did have thoughts of running it since some of those psc pumps have -10 feeds. But when I was ordering the pump, they said it would have the -12.
