It's very, very tempting. I can't get a frame for it in Sharjah so it would have to go on something else. Maybe a 75 frame? Could be a great project for retirement. They have a couple of them I think. But these are the first 4 doors I've seen in salvage.
Stretched 80 frame ?

I did buy the new rear bumper, and some sun shades. The bumper is easy to take apart and will go in my two rolling cases for my upcoming trip to Florida

I also went ahead and got new rear indicator light boxes. Figured the one on Golden Boy may have gotten damaged. And I am replacing the door checks on Golden Boy and the RJ77 on this trip, also using new OEM pulls from the salvage yard that gets the parts from 79's being converted into light armoured vehicles.

I am about to head to Florida and I decided to bring Golden Boy a new, stronger, bumper.

70's have been coming with two types of rear bumpers, strong ones and weak ones. The one on Golden Boy had been the weak bumper. I went up to one of my favorite places in Sharjah today and had a look.

I took the Omani Diesel (now with turbo 24 valve out of the HDJ81). It has been in process for quite some time. Wind noise was pretty bad and it pulls to the right, but I had a lot of fun. Drove 125km on 7.6 liters meaning it is geting 17.9 MPG--but the speedo may be 10% high, have to check again.

The weak bumper is on the right, the strong is on the left

While I was there, I saw this...

They even have the shorty bed. It is pricey, but I've aways wanted to build a 4 door 70 series. Mulling it over.
So where is the build thread on this, because you are the madman to take a project like that on

Many apologies. I'm way behind on writing stuff up. But I just retired from my job. Now I have more time. I am telling myself. Golden boy has had a lot of service and is in really good shape now thanks to the help of @cruisermatt I will post a couple of pictures in a little while of Golden boy. Happily sitting in the Florida Sun
