I've got an otherwise tight 60 but my rear seat latches rattle going over even the smallest of bumps in the road and it annoys the hell out of me. Maybe I'm too "A type" but I'd like to try and solve this. I put surgical tubing over the male dowel on the seat so it wouldn't be metal on metal as it locks into the latch when closed and this did help a bit. Now it seems the bar that goes along inside the seat and the plastic levers are a little loose. Can this be tightened somehow?

You can also wrap the latch bars with electrical tape, it works for the tail gate also. I am like you, I just can't handle constant rattles or squeaks.

Another rattle source in a bench seat can be internal, under the foam in the springs and ties. There are many metal to metal contacts and as the foam and pads age, sometimes they shrink allowing the metal parts to rattle.

With the sound bouncing off the seat pans and backs.

Listen to see if it may be the internals, and have someone sit and move around as you drive to see.

Mine is missing the rubber stops on the stationary piece that the upper pegs rest against. Are those parts still available? I've got some 3/8" fuel hose pushed on them but it just doesn't fit well.

I put surgical tubing over the pegs. Kind of like a peg condom. It definitely helped

Not the pegs on the seat part but the factory rubber stop that fits on this.

There is supposed to be a formed piece if rubber in the tab where I have the hose pushed onto. Crappy pic from the interwebbs.

also a tube and torsion rod thru the seat back, if it's at all loose, or not aligned just right, it's prime to make some noise. prolly just the bushings at the pivot of the seat back. could be the seat bottom hinge pins; y'know, there's alot to rattle in those things!

I just got a new to me 85 that drives me crazy with this noise! I tried some penetrating oil (because it was nearby) which made it a little better. Tried some electrical tape also small improvement but the noise is still there. I definitely think its internal to the mechanism rather than where the rod pushes in and touches.

That's what I did as well. Wears out over time but well worth the effort.

Researching rattles. I thought maybe mine was in the lift gate.

I put in new weatherstrip and put gaffers tape all over the metal to metal stuff.

Strapped the seats tight.

Nothing.

Gotta check those lower hinges as suggested.

Concerning the back seat latch.

Are the two sides supposed to be connected by the torque tube and work together? Unlatch both from one side? Mine work independently, gotta unlatch from each side.

They work together when working

I dipped all my metal on metal contacts with plastidip. Works wonderfully.

Did you ever get an answer to this missing parts question? I need one too...

I was able to pick up a pair off of another 60. We stopped at Classic Cruisers in Poncha Springs, Colorado on the way to SAS #2 and one of his parts trucks had them. As far as I know they are NLA from Mr T. Rattles are all gone now in the rear seat area.
