Your not, but I was hoping to get a few people involved. I still think 23 bucks is too much for a 3D model

Pretty expensive for an STL. It won't scale perfectly since it's not a mesh file so you'd be signing up to print it at that size, slightly larger or smaller.

I opened that STL file you had above with solidworks, it doesn't have a bunch of resolution, the polygons are big (see photo below). I can try to refine the mesh in fusion, but I'm not sure the detail would suddenly appear.

Did you try importing at a finer mesh scale? Looks to me the large polygons are from the importing method not the actual part file.

Edit: Also when i did test prints the resolution turned out pretty good. Though i think the 3D printer software i use smooths out the edges. The issue i have been having is being able to covert it in Invetor to a model i can edit and thicken it. My goal is to put on body mounts so i can make a frame for it to sit on, but for some reason there are too many errors for me to do that.

No options in Solidworks for STL files to refine the mesh. An STL file by definition is a series of polygons, I have never seen a way to refine an STL file during opening. We would have to use a meshing program to refine it.

Maybe im thinking about the wrong thing. In inventor when you import a model you can select a high/medium/low resolution which effects the number of polygons generated.

Once you get these down and make a few i'd possibly be interested in buying one if the cost isnt too crazy for the finished product.

Actually my plan was to get a working model, and then do customization to match peoples particular cruisers. Then price according to work completed. Being a poor grad student im always looking for work to do to make some beer money. Though i can design things easily from scratch, working with a pre-existing model is more difficult than what i thought.

What is the purpose for these?
I want one for an RC car model. Since they do not have 60 series models out there, 3D printing one will basically be just for desktop art.

Update:

After what I can only describe as too many hours working on this project, I finally have a decent working model of an FJ62 cruiser.
**** yeah 1.PNG
**** yeah 2.PNG
**** yeah 3.PNG

It still needs a lot of work, and I need to model out the mirrors and bumpers, as well as frame and extra stuff.

I plan to do a test print on Monday to get an idea of what else I need to fix. Though, hopefully it should be smooth sailing from here. Do you all have any input of what details I should add? I plan to add Toyota badging on the front and back, but I am debating if I should add groves to show the doors better.

Once I get this into a decent working model, ill upload an .STL so you all can print it yourselves. Though if anyone is interested, id be more than happy to make customized models for a small fee. IDK if there is a market for it though.

Was able to get it on the printer today, so as long as it prints well ill have an update by Monday.

Just curious is there an interest for a 60 model? I was thinking I can just mod the front easily now to match the round headlights

i personally would love one! my other hobby is model making (derived from DND miniatures and diramas etc.)

I'd love to create a clone of my 60 and paint/rust it to match!

Well as long as someone get some use out of it then I'll go ahead and try to get a 60 going as well.

I have allso thought about making a 1:24 clone of my truck. I would like to have the grill separate same with tail lights. And no windows etc. more like a model kit is made.

Once I get the file finished it be happy to send it your way. Or if you want I can do the work for some spending money, got to feed my Cruiser habit somehow.

First test print finished. You can hardly see the edges of the polygons, overall im extremely impressed with the model and think apart from adding some groves to signify edges of body panels I think im ready to move onto designing the frame and bumpers.

Sick!

So im working on drawing a frame from my FJ62 model, i was able to find this which shows the dimensions of the mounting points. I was wondering if there was a version of this with dimensions for the actual rails or at the very least a version that is a little easier to read.

If anyone has any other dimensional drawings for the 60 series, mainly the exterior body, that would be a huge help. I would like to eventually get a fully detailed model, or as close to fully detailed as I can.
