Pretty sure those are fender flares. I assume his tires can’t protrude from the “body”.

That's right.
I'm not allowed any tyre being outside of the vehicle, and brush guards are needed - Yellow.

My bumper on inspection will need full tyre coverage also - Red.

Wow, they are picky. I thought Aus. was making everyone get rid of the bull bars in front?

Only items on the Bullbar that point forward. It's all for pedestrian safety. Means all LED lights need to be set back and no fishing rod holders.

Yeah you guys do get the tight end on passing inspections, is it yearly or just to liscence the first time?

Blue Slip (Registration) is a one-off inspection unless the police suspect you of a defective vehicle, where they may ask you to show proof or be taken to our version of the DMV for a check.

Engineering is a one-off inspection. $$$$$$

Pink Slips (Yearly Vehicle Inspection) are an Annual Check.

Gleen Slips (Vehicle Insurance) are Annual.

We have some extremely restrictive and hypocritical modification laws in Australia. I understand the reasoning for it, to protect the greater public from bad and unsafe modifications.

For the record - This is what I was trying to draw.

Thank you for the roof pics. it is helping me visualize my pop top roof plans.

California is only picky about smog. I could make a car out of 2x4s and duct tape and it would be fine as long as it passed smog.

Ill get you some measurements of the roof profile and dimensions.

Thanks for the offer. I wont need any measurements. Now that I can see what is below the roof skin I am probably going just replace that inner part with 2x2 tube and box it in all around. I just need a structure to bolt to and have a good seal when the roof is down.

Think of the fuel efficiency of a Pig made of wood and duct tape!

"Wood Pig" doesn't sound quite the same as Iron Pig...

Wheeling in the Prado today. Doesn't flex too bad for stock suspension. IFS Front and 5 Link Coil rear.
Also got to help a mate out with his VDJ79 dualcab. It wheels real good.

Looks like a fun day out. What does your mate think of his tyres? I'm thinking of going the same tread pattern on the 55.

Hey mate. Swears by them. But most Aussies swear by almost everything if it's black and round. I did like the pattern but they spray plenty of mist on wet roads. Not sure how it goes for noise as their only 10,000km old.
