A few items ticked off the box.
After the discussion with my engineer, I will be installing HJ60 Swaybars onto my FJ55.
My friend is currently rebuilding his HJ60 so I was in luck to take measurements and source an entire kit from a local Australian Hero Paul Reed from Mr Landcruiser in QLD.
I also found an intercooler that will fit the 55 Engine Bay and keep the costs down. By using a 1KZ-TE (1995-2004 Tacoma Factory Turbo Diesel Electric Injected 3.0L) I can reroute the turbo outlet with minimal waste and gain access to the Dipstick better.

Don't mind the photo attached as it's a rough example.

Those parts should be here by the middle of the month if not sooner.
Plan is to annodise my Sway Bars gold to tie in all the suspension and steering together.
Wish me luck

Just had these photos sent in by my rust guy. 55's back out in the sun for a short while. The Auto Sparky is coming round to tidy up some wiring and have it controlled by key start.

Roof is fully removed. Glass has been fully removed except the rear ambo doors. Quarters have been cut and finished off in primer.

Howdy All,

I have chased down some FJ60 Sway Bars to attach to my FJ55 Project as required by Australian Driving Regulations.
As a option, I have looked into building some swaybars mounted like the Curries Anti Rock style.
Is there any threads / Photos for FJ40/FJ55s set up like this?

This is an FJ40 fitted with FJ80 Axles for reference.

Before you head down that particular rabbit hole, check with your engineer. If he's asked for the 60 axles to have a sway bar he's probably expecting to see 60 sway bars. I've found with dads 47/80 project that if you have to make the engineer think too much it all gets too hard for them.

Can you esplain the electric part when you say diesel/electric?
I am guessing you mean electric injection pump, eh?
Not diesel/electric hybrid.
The US is getting pretty serious about electric all of a sudden. I saw GM plans to be all electric by 2035...

Hey Sneaky,

Engineer is happy with any sway bar, provided there is one installed

Hey mate, Sorry it's auto corrected. Should say Electronical Injected. Although a Diesel Electric FJ55 would be pretty sweet!

Are you going to put a hood scoop to transfer that heat out of the intercooler?
I plan to have a Scoop and Thermo Fan. I have been looking into the VDJ79 Utility Hood Scoop as they make a Fibreglass & Steel mould here in the AUS. Need to check dimensions and measurements as they're not cheap. ~$500+

Yep, Electric timed Injection pump rather than mechanical.. 1KZ-TE , same as the 1HDFTE's and 15BFTE's.. Fly by wire throttle, ECU and Electronic timed injector pump

Progress!

The HJ55s fuse block came today.
40 blade fuses and 10 relays to play with.

Also got the old girl turning over on the key start & worked out the EDIC wiring.

Wow! What fuse box is that?
Looks like a RFRM Fuse Panel.

The first time I used one of those panels I used the cheaper crimp tool like this.

I had some sort of issue with 40% of the crimps before I bought the other crimp tool, very well could have just been me not using the first tool correctly but if you plan to do more than just a couple of crimps the Waytek tool with the Metri-Pack jaws is worth the money.

Hey RUSH55.

It's a brand named Bussman. They do a whole range of options, and configurations.
It was perfect for what I wanted and fits perfectly in the Glove box.

The whole box can be removed from the box with ease. I didn't want too much in the engine bay.

Sorry for the delay in this thread, have been a long slog at work this month.
I've been able to twist my employer's arm to let me drive the KDJ155R Prado - of course get paid for it ;)
Removed the rear seats and put in some 1300mm drawers with a inbuilt fridge slide.
Have to say will make both work and camping much easier.
