Has anyone used a half tub purchased through landcruiser heaven? I just finished joining the front and rear tub sections. Out of curiousity, I measured the body mount holes and compared them to the old rear tub. Turns out the new rear tub is 1" longer!!!!!!!NO!!!! Not a bad dream. Mine is a 1971 which I specified when ordering. I have no idea how to accommodate this extra 1". It's going to throw off my body mounts, my wheel position in fender openings it's going to hang over the rear bumper by an inch. I've spent countless hours fitting the two halves together and doing body work on the replacement tub section. (It came on a pallet... beat to hell, the sides were both bent inward. The front opening for wheel well (horn?) was bent 90 degrees...). Dings galore....
My question.... has anyone else experienced this??? Any ideas?? I'm thinking about extending the frame rails 1inch. Right now I'm trying to absorb this!! The major part of my budget was spent on this rear tub.....

Oh man. What did they say??
For the damage during shipping... contact the shipper..... no luck.
For the oversized rear tub... cut 1" off the front BEFORE you join the two halves....!!!!! That would have been A monumental task if I had known!!

WOW. (Note to self - avoid Landcruiser Hell - bad news) :crybaby:

I wouldnt be impressed with that at all, you cannot just cut an inch of that.

Where do you think it is stretched? The"horn" looks wide.

That really sucks when you spend a lot of money on new parts and you have big issues with them. Sorry you are dealing with this.

I think I would consider drilling the spot welds that the body mounts bolt to on the bottom of the tub and place the mounts where they need to be so it will bolt on in the right spot. This would not solve all of your problems as I am not sure where your rims sit in the wheel well and the over hang on the back. Your top is also not going to fit as previously mentioned, cutting something seems like the only answer if you want to keep it. Sadly I would consider putting the half tub or complete tub up for sale and see if you can recoup enough to buy another tub. No matter what you do it seems like a big setback. Good luck.

Maybe take a technical approach. Does the specification sheet for the tub call out the length and potentially an associated tolerance? If outside of those measurements, dispute charge with credit card company and move on. Not worth the hack weld to make it fit and deal with hard top fitment issues.

I hate to press back to vendors, but when they make suggestions like cut it down or deal with the freight carrier, I tend to push back where the wallet can have an impact.

You can always tell unprepared shippers. For an item like that , a wooden frame created to disallow "normal" impacts in shipping from affecting the product , is a must. Similar to shipping an axle in a cardboard box and expecting it to have no issues. That is what is required for shipping.
Now, the 1 inch is not a shipping issue but a quality issue. You would think that building a TUB , ensuring basic dimensions would be paramount. If you can retake payment back, that would certainly ensure better quality and better shipping in the future. Hope all works out for you as I know how it feels to budget and then a major issue comes up.

I'm going to go forward and make adjustments I guess. Yes... I've been saving up for years to buy the rear tub... I have no choice but to push on and make adjustments. Sucks though. I had the same thoughts... HOW can they sell these and not expect bad feedback???? Btw... no specs, no measurements.... and not good details when ordering. I took a leap of faith and landed in a pile of sh%%#! Can't d scribe how disappointed I am right now!

Your tub came with a gas filler door (?) I think that's a later tub feature.

I know for me, I would have to do whatever was necessary to make it right. Even if that meant separating the rear and trimming it.

Yep, that is a '73+ tub. If you cut an inch from the front, will it get into the tank opening, Need to be sectioned? What a pain! Being they sent the wrong tub, you ordered a 71 correct, that would give a stronger case with the credit card co?

Yes... it came with the filler door which is a later feature... there is no hardware and it doesn't seem to fit at all. Another issue.
I'm going to try to stretch the 1" out by scootching the body forward as much as possable and cheating any way I can. . I have a hunch I was sent the wrong tub??

The amount of work it would take to undo what I've done this far is daunting to say the least. It took 4 months to get this tub! Talking to the distributer in Florida (landcruiser heaven) I got the feeling that this is a common issue... but in later model tub replacements. He informed me that trimming the rear tub is how they told customers to right the situation. Since I just rebuilt the entire rear bumper and supports, I may attempt to extend the frame rails back 1". Which will not alleviate the body mount misalignment. But it's the easiest solution at this early stage. The front of the tub must stay in its original position to allow for the front fenders to fit properly. I'd love to waste that extra inch up front behind the bumper. p

1. You should have gone cool cruisers or teseven. Taking a chance on such a expensive item was a big risk.
2. What's done is done and I find myself doing similar things and getting in the same type of jams so I know how you feel.
3. Measure and see where exactly at which point the tub is 1" longer and show us pics so we can help you get if fixed.
4. If they really said cut a 1" off thats pretty bad business. Hopefully lc heaven will chime in. The owner is on mud and seems like a reasonable guy.

This situation sucks for sure. I owned a 3/4 tub from LCH I purchased from another mudder. I ended up selling it to nice guy with all the equipment and abilities to make it right. I did include another full tub to help him with his project.

My opinion is LCH takes peoples monies and once he has your funds your stuck with the crappy product. Maybe Frank can rectify your situation and make this right. Mine was poor quality, lacked every important nut, no support for roll bar or rear spare tire. Not sure why there haven't been more poor reviews. There is a world of quality difference between his product and OEM.

There is full LCH tub for sale on Craigslist from I assume another mudder from Denver area who can't unload it and is going to take a pretty good hit on the funds he spent to buy it. When I spoke to him, he said he was going to have to put another $2000-$3000 into before he could make it work at all.

Sorry my friend for your troubles!
