FJ40 Cross-Country Expedition: Will YOU join us???

I’m in North Carolina. If this ends up being in the fall and not summer, I’ll probably miss it just based on my location, but if it’s in the summer, I could probably take a western leg or something because I’ll be there touring the country

This is great! I would love to participate once my FJ is running! Can't commit now but I'm in Fulshear Texas (near Houston). 200 miles is a good distance. Need several just to get it out of Texas!

Thanks for the link! I’m down for a road trip if anyone from the PNW wants to go!
I have some work to do on my 40 but would like to partake. Hope to drive it to SAS next summer.

@1811Retired depending where in NCW you are, I get there a lot and @77CruiserDog, I’m probably not far from you. I’d be up for sharing in some PNW legs, even if it was just riding along or a short trip. Hell, I just got back from a few days in Idaho and SW Montana and am going back soon, though in my 4Runner, not the cruiser so kind of defeats the point (unless I drag another 40 back with me….). Sunset Beaverheads pic for jealous attention.

There's a decent 40 sitting behind a barn with a nice view of the Beaverhead.

And a 55 I've spotted.

And.....well, I'll save some of those secrets.

I stopped and talked to a guy down there with one in his yard, he showed me the one he was building in his shop too; potential purchase options but I was too busy hiking to worry about the logistics of getting one home. But, feel free to share all your secrets; but only with me for now….. I must’ve driven near you though, went down through the Bitterroot Valley to get into Idaho, then back up the Dillon side. Whole line of cars taking pictures of the gate of the “Yellowstone” Ranch.

I'm in depending on timing. Good for 500mi or more if it works out. Home base Waco Texas.
You are just 70 miles south of me (right off I-35W)
I'll need to take Scout for a shakedown run once it's back together... I'm thinking a long drive to meet other 40 owners sounds awesome. I'm in the Seattle area.

It might take me a few weeks to get it back together.

Current state of things....

My goal is to have it back together by early September.

Mesaman and I are up for meeting up as well! We are in Northern NM and would love to see the briefcase moving again and enjoy meeting new 40s! Let’s do this!
we just need the holders of the briefcase and the tool box to chime in…. Thanks for bringing this back to life! Would be fun to meet at IH8MUD headquarters or the LandCruiser Museum.

I’ve always wanted to spend some time at the Land Cruiser Museum in SLC.

Some deviation of the blue route below seems like a good way to get there

Very well worth the trip. Had to go to Salt Lake for parts to get home from a bit of moab trail damage and went there. Broken birfield wasn't so bad after ha!

Same as the other threads.

Has anyone determined who is in possession of the goods yet? I don't think anyone has owned up to anything yet

I say we start a new leg with new goods
I'm not sure we're at that point yet, I have a feeling that there is a box close by to me that I can get rolling again.
