So wait... you are using an HJ air cleaner with a long tube and cap for the carb? Any detailed pics and info on this?
HJ setup I bought from "landcruiserjunky" here on mud. I think he had several. PM him and see. I had it blasted and powder coated. Already had the snorkel. Bolts right to the factory nuts already in the body. And snorkel hose hooks right up. Easy deal. Move the wiring and AC lines over. 3 bolts and its in. Got a washable OEM filter from Beno. The carb cap or horn came with the HJ setup, along with the hose. There is also a cool side can on the housing where dirt can fall down away from the filter. It sits right beside the charcoal canister. Had to piece two hoses together to get over to the valve cover vent hole off the top of the carb. Not ideal, but couldn't find the perfect hose.
Awesome work! I am in the process of doing the same thing with the body of my FJ62, mechanical is next. Got any pics of the roof sound insulation before the headliner? I am using fatmat on the roof myself on the major panels to reduce vibration - I read a bunch of posts on other sites where people did not have issues on the roof with it coming off (seems pretty solid to me), but curious of your set up.
It was recommend to me by the guy that sells QuietCrap to not put the QuietCrap on the roof because of its weight. Would have been an easy sell and another full roll, but he shot me straight and told me to not do it. I think in the heat of summer, I could see how it my let loose alittle, then it's heavy enough to fall off I guess. It doesn't really glue on. It's just a sticky stuff that holds. Sides and floor it's great. On the roof, I scraped as much of the OEM wool off as I could. That 30 year old glue is tricky. It didn't come super clean. It doesn't go all the way to the edge anyway. I glued up some 1/4" closed cell foam like is used in pole barns. On the edges of the roof, there is a gap. I put the foam down in the gap as well as what you can see here. It's easy to work with. Next step: gluing up some jute wool like the factory stuff, then the headliner goes up. Got one from SOR. I had the foam on the floor for years, 2 layers thick, it never did anything to the roof. It always sounded like my windows were cracked alittle, so that's why I'm getting it into the side edges really well, and the wool will cover all the way down as far as possible without messing up the look of the vinyl headliner.
SWEET!! I might need more info on the antenna. I have mine on and I can't get good radio reception. FM stations don't come in well.
I don't know much about the antenna yet since it wasn't mounted before this. I do know there is a ground wire off the mount to a bolt nearby on the wiper motor. And I do know the CB part of the antenna needs to be "tuned" but I'm not sure what that involves yet.
