So wait... you are using an HJ air cleaner with a long tube and cap for the carb? Any detailed pics and info on this?

HJ setup I bought from "landcruiserjunky" here on mud. I think he had several. PM him and see. I had it blasted and powder coated. Already had the snorkel. Bolts right to the factory nuts already in the body. And snorkel hose hooks right up. Easy deal. Move the wiring and AC lines over. 3 bolts and its in. Got a washable OEM filter from Beno. The carb cap or horn came with the HJ setup, along with the hose. There is also a cool side can on the housing where dirt can fall down away from the filter. It sits right beside the charcoal canister. Had to piece two hoses together to get over to the valve cover vent hole off the top of the carb. Not ideal, but couldn't find the perfect hose.

Awesome work! I am in the process of doing the same thing with the body of my FJ62, mechanical is next. Got any pics of the roof sound insulation before the headliner? I am using fatmat on the roof myself on the major panels to reduce vibration - I read a bunch of posts on other sites where people did not have issues on the roof with it coming off (seems pretty solid to me), but curious of your set up.

It was recommend to me by the guy that sells QuietCrap to not put the QuietCrap on the roof because of its weight. Would have been an easy sell and another full roll, but he shot me straight and told me to not do it. I think in the heat of summer, I could see how it my let loose alittle, then it's heavy enough to fall off I guess. It doesn't really glue on. It's just a sticky stuff that holds. Sides and floor it's great. On the roof, I scraped as much of the OEM wool off as I could. That 30 year old glue is tricky. It didn't come super clean. It doesn't go all the way to the edge anyway. I glued up some 1/4" closed cell foam like is used in pole barns. On the edges of the roof, there is a gap. I put the foam down in the gap as well as what you can see here. It's easy to work with. Next step: gluing up some jute wool like the factory stuff, then the headliner goes up. Got one from SOR. I had the foam on the floor for years, 2 layers thick, it never did anything to the roof. It always sounded like my windows were cracked alittle, so that's why I'm getting it into the side edges really well, and the wool will cover all the way down as far as possible without messing up the look of the vinyl headliner.

SWEET!! I might need more info on the antenna. I have mine on and I can't get good radio reception. FM stations don't come in well.

I don't know much about the antenna yet since it wasn't mounted before this. I do know there is a ground wire off the mount to a bolt nearby on the wiper motor. And I do know the CB part of the antenna needs to be "tuned" but I'm not sure what that involves yet.

Any help on where these go? Somewhere on the rear gate or hatch latch assemblies. Can't remember. The 3 holed latch goes on the floor for the rear seat latch I think. But not sure on the flat pieces. Thanks

Is there a gasket between these assemblies on the sides of the tailgate and upper hatch latch assembly?

Whoa, great build, haven't seen this until now!

I've had a 60 in pieces, but never seen the flat pieces above, but could look like something between door latches maybe.
Good job getting everything blinged up, even though my 61 isn't a show off, I'd like that clean look.

I can't remember any gasket on the tailgate assembly, I think they're straight against the paint.
I've adjusted them a few times, and haven't seen gaskets.

Looks like you have the parts sorted, but I can recommend the extra weatherstripping from @reevesci if he still has some, works wonders on all doors!

What part number is that washable air filter from beno? Looks great!

Way cool. Do you have a list of everything OEM you've order from Beno?

I don't have that list. I thought about that the other day. I do have tons of receipts but they are just numbers and nearly impossible to know what is what.

Way to go, look great. It reminds me of putting my -61 back together, best part of the process

Now that you have the headliner out, I strongly advise you to spray in the inside of the raingutter profiles, since you're able to reach now. I put several can's of conservation wax in it. Rust on the side of a roof always starts from the inside..

what is "conservation wax"?

oh i get it, any kind of wax to conserve the paint. so any spray wax just shot into the access holes?

I'm going with the outer weatherstripping with no chrome. These don't extend past the ends of the channel like the chrome style does. So will these small openings be a problem down the road for water getting inside the door?

image.jpeg

I've got the same openings with original new weatherstrips, without chrome as well.
Been bugging me to have that big of an opening, but haven't sorted it out. I just keep drain holes in doors in good clean condition en park it inside if possible (s***ty way of dealing with it, I know :D)

The strip will relax when it gets in the sun. Work the strip outwards a little and it should cover the full gap. For some reason it doesn't... apply a little dab of black urethane sealer to the edges. It blends nicely and keeps the elements out.

You can use silicone (I don't recommend them) but most silicone sealers contain acids that will break down clear coats and single stage paints. They don't last very long either. Be cautious of the one you get if you go the silicone route.

Another window run question. On the driver and passenger front doors, there is a channel that bolts in on the front inner part of the door which is the window track when it is rolled down. The upper weatherstripping run goes in place and comes to the bottom of this track channel. the front door window channel, 68141-90A00, the front edge of the weatherstripping goes down to the bottom of the glass and channel track when the glass is rolled down. It is sort off felt-like on the inside of the weatherstrip. But I also have 68143-90A00, called the lower run on the parts breakdown. But it isn't felt like, it is more of a soft pliable rubber. The parts breakdowns I have shows the lower run set inside the bolt in channel, and the upper run stopping about the triangle piece at the front corner of the glass. So the question is, do I NOT need the lower run weatherstripping 68143, or is the upper piece 68141 made so that it is to be cut to length at the triangle piece of the front of the window? Here is the pic I'm talking about. My 68141 goes to the bottom.

A separate question. Man I have a lot. Should have taken a million more pictures.
On the door handles, there are two small holes on either side of the handle, sorta hidden on the under side. Any pics of what goes in these?

Inside handle.

The holes should contain small rubber bumpers that quiet the door handle coming back down when you let go of it.
