Last weekend a buddy and I (both w/ kids in tow for a drive/lunch picnic) were heading over Hoorah Pass to Jackson's hole. While fueling up I ran into (and Met) this sweet 08... and it's owner. ;)

(I have slider envy. . . .and stuff :)

Nice rig Charlie and good to meet you! Leap-frogged and chatted with that crew (climbing Hoorah) from Cruise headed to expo, .:steer:

Given a big road trip coming up this summer, and the previous disasterous sidewall blowout in my driveway and having mismatched tires, AND the cash from a recent transmission sale... the stars have aligned!

NEW TIRES!!:bounce2::cool:

Looking more and more proper!!

BUT, counter to best knowledge, the spare doesn't fit.
*EDIT* the spare fits, just barely!! You need a floor jack to help slip it up in place, but it fits.

These (per image) are LT 265x70R17s, and I have the full hitch but the spare doesn't fit (per tire shop) by just a smidge....

I'll just need to get under there and see if I can get a little wiggle room by loosening the hitch and hope it's got ovals (i suspect) rather than round mounting holes.

I have the same size Tire in the Yokohama Geolander and mine fits with my new stock hitch no problem. You should be able to get it to fit just mess with it by dropping the spare a little and moving that around. You shouldn't have to loosen the hitch.

Word. :)

I fell into the trap of quoting anecdote from a busy tire shop without testing on my own. The population here would know tire sizes ;)
It could just be that it didn't slip into place and they didn't have time to fiddle with it.
And honestly, I haven't yet either.

I'll try to mess with it one of these nights but we're in for a blazing heat wave and it doesn't begin to cool off till after sunset.

Read: I'm LAZY in the heat but need to look at the spare myself soon..

*EDITED for KDSS detail*
So, I confirmed: The BFG AT/ KO2 265x70R17LE/E doesn't readily fit in the spare hole of GX Sport (w/ KDSS) with a full hitch.

*EDIT* Caveat: This '07 is a Sport, thus KDSS, so the RSB configuration and size is different than non KDSS GXs and affects the space for the spare.

BUT, I loosened the hitch (4 14mm, gear wrenches are rad; 8 17mm, you can get a gun on those) bolts and tugged the hitch aft, getting maybe 1/8" shift. I tightened it all up and the spare fit... J U S T B A R E L Y !

It lists a little to port, but it's seated against all the braces in the spare hole. So it's in.

I guess the BFG's are a bit larger then my Yokahama's :hmm:

Possibly, but i think the issue is more with hte KDSS RSB configuration. My rig is a sport and the KDSS RSB is arranged and mounted differently from non-KDSS, so its uber under there, but with some shennanigans the 265x70 17 BFG AT/KO2 LT/E fits.

Here's a quick comparison from stock (265x65 17) 30.5" to the upsize (265*70 17) 31.5".

Sweet! Yeah, put in a decent test of the new bits in your rig.
