some sort of rear mount snorkle, some shielding and maybe a water to air i/c and it should do fine inthe mud or water. maybe some ceramic coating could help stock anycracking when doping it in cold water.
Chances of this on a OBD1 cruiser?
awesome
would be nice to have some sort of intake tube run up inside the back against the rear most pillar and out the roof with a scoop

Ya, I thought of that too, however I did not really want to cut into any of the metal.
I plan on making another version which will connect up to the factory air system so that you can use factory style snorkels. But adding a snorkel on the back would definitely get some attention.![]()
You know, would it be too much of a redneck if you ran a 3" pipe straight up the C pillar (or is it the D pillar) into an ARB ram head?![]()

This would be a good option for us Cali residents with the smog inspections. On the books, anything mounted after the factory cats, is not considered in the inspection process. All you would have to do is remove the turbo intake charge piping and install the factory elbow. It might raise an eyebrow, but legally they couldn't do anything about it.
Will you be testing this on a factory cat setup, or have you modified that area for exhaust flow?
I installed a 3" Random Technology High Flow Cat followed by a 2.5" OBX Stainless Muffler and continued with a 2.5" pipe all the way back to the turbo. You can leave the factory cats and remove muffler and go straight pipe back to the turbo. The turbo reduces exhaust tones tremendously. I plan on running this by the local smog shop I deal with and see what numbers come back and compare them to the smog I did a couple months ago when I purchased it with the factory cats on and no turbo.
