So is the Piggy in Boulder w/ Robbie?

In earlier text dialogue, Robbie said he was preparing a semi-permanent spot in the shop, today.

Tongue-in-cheek, I replied that semi-permanent sounded rather ominous, he quickly defined semi-permanent as "not rolling around, sitting on jack stands", not an indicator of duration.

Haha.

During the hour that it's taken to finish this post, she's since been moved to semi-permanent housing.

The plan had been upset some time ago, so I can't say with certainty how she'll return.

Have you ever seen Tulsa in early spring, Pablo?

Bahaha.

I may have missed it, but you are getting rid of those wheels right?

I'm married, sir, so I know how to recognize a suggestion posed as a question.

Bahaha.

They wouldn't be my choice if I were buying, but they seem fitting on this Pig, so will remain.

If I opted to swap wheels, I'd find a 17" that suited my fancy, merely due to the DD responsibilities and available tire options the more modern wheel diameter affords, but thinking these will remain and wrapped in the 33" KM2s that are currently on the resto.

Don't go trying to fix it so it's coherent.

I, all but, take offense to that.....

Bahaha.

The actual "build" starts here, I guess.

I realize the audiences' level of excitement may be dampened with this approach, but I'm aware of my own limitations and it's important to be able to drive one, to maintain enthusiasm, as mine had been waning due to the '72s condition and this '76s issues, and Robbie's finished product will exceed anything I'm capable of, by ten million percent.

The original plan was to send Robbie the 2F to build, which morphed into sending the H55/Split Case along with, then sending the roller to allow body work to commence simultaneously.

All that failed, due to title debacle and inability to commit to dates with body shops, delay on the '72 body work, and other extenuating circumstances.

SO

Considered pulling the cab at Robbie's to coat the frame, then mate an untreated underbelly back to it, which seemed illogical, too.

The current goal is, if it removes from frame, it's coated, but reserving frame painting until the body comes off upon her return to Tulsa.

Robbie's shop isn't conducive for body work, not frame offs, and efforts to find a shop capable of handling even the underbelly treatment and firewall paint, being all necessary to never have to pull it off again, failed, too.

At least pushing the cart with the horse, as it feels I'm doing, will allow for a driving, roadworthy Pig to be enjoyed while the bodywork is thoroughly plotted and planned, plus, if there's necessary modifications to firewall that aren't known, it won't be as bad removing the part later to paint, opposed to removing it to repaint.

My rationalization, at least.

Question on gas tank.

Robbie asked about the fuel in tanks age, to determine if it could be used for the initial startup, which was a reminder to me if the failure to have tank pretreated before sending, since I've distant family in that business, but also a reminder that there are several ports in the tank that'll be unused, currently capped with electrical tape.

Anyhow, expressed my desire to have the tank done, which isn't an issue to do there, but I don't know how best to deal with the unused inlets/outlets. Prefer it not appear half assed and that it came the way necessary for final function.

Is it possible to remove the ports and weld a patch?

Better way to deal with?

Am I overthinking it?

For posterity, as well.

Have been trying to source the Pig specific mini truck gearbox pedestal for several months, to no avail.

IPOR had sold the last of the inventory and had no immediate intentions to produce another run, and the other retailers inventory were depleted, as well.

Posted a WTB thread, to which Georg replied with another potential source, who also did not have, so discussed options with Georg yesterday, considering I need to find a resolution soon.

Later in the day he text that he'd spoke to Lance who agreed to do another run.

Purpose in this post.

I've done minimal business with Georg, have never met the man, and he has no qualms about stating his disgust for Pigs ( humor) yet he spent time out of his day to call Lance, after I'd spoken to another rep, at length, (the owner of the RHD brown Pig in the bumper thread) and him explaining their aversion to Pig specific products, since they don't sell.

So, my thanks to Georg, who always has answers or takes the time to offer options for issues I have that don't result in revenue.

Thanks, Georg.

Also better toss a little thanks in there to Lance who really does love pigs ;) ...via IH8MUD app

Goes without saying, but you're right.

I didn't speak to Lance, nor can I recall the gentleman's name I did chat with, at length, but he's also an affinity for Pigs and appreciate the dialogue.

Not sure how I wrangled Georg into this mess, beyond asking for clarification of one of his suggestions, but without expressing much beyond the lack of a verified resource, talked to Lance who, based on Georg's text, stated they'd do another run.

So, many thanks to all parties involved.
