What would be available?

At this point....

'76 2F

Oil pan
Pistons
Oil pump
Fuel pump
Oil cooler
Cam Shaft
Other Internals (not crank shaft. It's staying)
Weber (I think)
Dizzy and ign (Jim C. claimed a "good one"...nothing more said about, but guess he considered the audiences cognitive mechanical aptitude, considering he stated to me. Haha.)

Adds in near future:

'76 2F head (not sure if I shouldn't hang onto)
Intake manifold
Headers
Alternator
Starter
4 speed/TC

Adds in distant future:

Leafs
Miscellaneous brake components
Possibly radiator
Possibly valve cover
Possibly side cover

Sure there's more, but all I can think of, at the moment.

General overview of the A/C....because I'm only adept enough to generalize, then questions....numbered for simplicity. :)

3FE compressor.

Modern condenser, to be determined once radiator has been.

Modern drier, hoses, fittings

'76 evaporator (modernized? modern fittings?)

'76 RHD grille

'76 amplifier (??. Don't know what this even is)

'76 Harness (??)

1. Since the 3FE was fuel injected, how can idle up be accomplished with vacuum? Is that irrelevant?

2. Modern fittings and hoses sounds fine, but what needs to be done to the evaporator core? What about fittings exiting firewall?

Brett pressure tested and, pretty sure, he said the evaporator core was fine to use, but not sure if that means that hoses can be made to work with the existing fittings, or if it all needs replaced.

3. What does the amplifier do? It has an adjustable rheostat, but doesn't appear to be accessible, once the evaporator is in place.

4. Surely the pro's could figure out, but the '76 harness appears relatively simple....perusals of the 3FE are not.

What controls the compressor, or better yet, is it possible to adapt the harness to the 3FE compressor?

5. Mundane, but on my mind....

Attempting to get everything installed and functioning 100%, then, once returned, pulling it all apart again and dealing with body, meaning this evaporator and grille will remove, along with the rest of the interior tidbits.

Wouldn't it make better sense to paint all, simultaneously, at the time they're pulled for body work?

6. Rear heater.

I have never laid eyes on a 62 rear heater, but they appear flat, also appear the inlets penetrate the floorboard, like the 80.

In an effort to minimize in cab heat, has already considered running the hoses externally....which may be possible with the 60 series 2F lines, but in an effort to free up space for the front seats, thinking the short, compact 62 rear heater may work.

Anyone know if they're as compact as they appear on an iPhone screen? (Haha)

Wouldn't it be feasible to control with the existing switch/harness? Just eliminate one wire?

any reason you didn't just do a 60 or 80 box through the frame with sleeves and reinforcement? ...via IH8MUD app

I'm an idealist.

If taking that at face value, one might buy it, since no irreversible surgery is required BUT, one would have to turn a blind eye to other aspects of this "build" since scratching a but beyond the surface reveals the idealism to exist skin deep.

Closer inspection reveals a confused reality that's only visible in hindsight.

In retrospect, the 60 steering and outers would've made better sense, as would a late 40 FF rear axle with e brake provisions, or swapping a later 2F or Chebby, for that matter.

Have the distinct ability to focus in on one branch of a tree in the proverbial forest....that's missed for too intense focus on a single piece of bark on one of it's many limbs.

"To look at a man and see him for only his insanity, is to not see him at all....."

how can i get in touch with one said mysterious and elusive "Jim C.?" I tried once before to PM him, but nevet did figure out his contact.

Best to email or leave message.

If the lead time is longer than you can wait, I may be have an extra. Know I have a Petronix unit from Pighead that Mark A. recurved, but think I have an Asian as a back up.

I, at least, have one and it may be years before I need.

i can wait 2-3 weeks, if that is needed. i would rather wait then have to r&r the dizzy. it can be aggravating enough doing it the first time. i will contact Jim tomorrow. thanks for the offer. i ,ay be at your mercy anyway if he says that mine is irreparable.
BTW, what did you decide to do about your amby door conversion? are you moving forward with it?

also, i think you blew scottryana's mind with your reply to him..
.i couldn't help but think that you gave him the long answer to his question. i chuckled. look at his avatar. i think i want the same paint scheme for my pig. i had saved that pic from a read several months ago because i liked it so much.

Could pull the dizzy from the '71, also. It was desmogged by a PO and appears to have been done correctly, so assuming advanced and useable.

BTW, what did you decide to do about your amby door conversion? are you moving forward with it?

Are you expressing interest in purchasing? :)

I'm as worried about that surgery as I am picking a seat, at this point, since there's so much to be done before then.

I have studied the rear cut closely and believe I have a grasp on how it needs to section in, so intend in welding braces inside the frame and beginning the process of removing the outer skin, along with getting the doors ready, too.

I can't lie and say the merits haven't been debated, mostly due to a self imposed timeline that there's no chance I'll ever meet, but unless someone wanted the set up for what I've invested, it'll remain where it is until the time comes that a decision is forced.

I do have grandiose ideas about a third Pig, that they could incorporate into if they don't go into the '76.

i think i want the same paint scheme for my pig. i had saved that pic from a read several months ago because i liked it so much.

It is a good looking Pig and built how I had originally dreamed one to be....then I lurked here long enough to grow an appreciation for original.

I can partially thank his and Lou's Pigs for my presence in this sub forum....so y'all can take up your grievances with them.

also, i think you blew scottryana's mind with your reply to him.. .i couldn't help but think that you gave him the long answer to his question. i chuckled.

scottryana is Denglish proficient and fully aware of the verbose nature inherent to the language.

He should have a firm grasp of sailing the high seas on the Ship of Theseus....

I see a parallel with your 72 pig and the Theseus ship paradox. Are you going to.preserve it in "original" condition for the return of some Samurai warrior?

i dont see my pig undergoing the suspension and other mods scottyrana's has, no matter how deserving of it it is. But, i do dig the paint job.

I see a parallel with your 72 pig and the Theseus ship paradox.

Only see the parallel to my '72, eh?

Hahaha.

Maybe we need a "Zen and the Art of Pig-storation" thread to either further the "What makes a Pig a Pig, and is it the same Pig as it started?" inquest or it can act as a sedative in the event any members suffer from insomnia.

Are you going to.preserve it in "original" condition for the return of some Samurai warrior?

Haha.

Is replacing the planks (Pigskins) preserving or is it creating a new vessel (Pig), slowly over time?

If one gathers the planks ( Pigskins) that were removed from the original and builds another ship (Pig), which is the original?

Bahahaha. (I realize a stupid question, because there's no way to build anything out of 5 gallon buckets of rust.)

Having spent part of the day condensing the body parts from three bays to one, it had me questioning the "resto" of the '72 in a similar fashion, probably a stress induced mental diversion from reality.

"Let's see...Has a '72 shell that's been hacked apart and portions replaced with '71 panels, along with new panels....73' hood, '74 front outers, '74 inners, '71 roof, '71 gate, three different years of doors...."

And that's just what I know.

So is it a '72? Is it the same '72, or new?

Bahahahahaha.

i dont see my pig undergoing the suspension and other mods scottyrana's has, no matter how deserving of it it is. But, i do dig the paint job.

It's a well constructed Pig and the paint does set it off. One of my favorites, to say the least.
