Oh, and @Dubbinchris I noticed you're in Columbus. I was born there when my dad was teaching at Ohio State. Moved away when I was really little but still feel some loyalty to Ohio. Go Buckeyes!
Cool, it's not a bad place. I graduated from OSU and worked there for 10 years in the hospital. I'm not really Buckeyes fan though....that bandwagon is super full....haha
My wife and I are planing a two week trip out west this summer....will likely hit Utah for a bit. Might have to look you up. Wish I had the cabbage to buy a RTT before we make the trip though.

Or just pick one up when you come through here.
Not sure when you're trip is planned but you could time it to coincide with CruiserFest in September. Could just stop by the event on Saturday when all the cruisers are just hanging out.
Our trip is planned for the last week in June and first week in July. I don't think we are driving the 80 though. Haven't owned it long enough to have gotten through all the PM'ing I want, and won't be able to by the time trip comes either. Will likely be bringing her brand new CRV.

I had the same over heating issues under load.. It ended up being the rad, it was only 2 years old (koyo) . I put a new one in and the car ran much cooler 185f normal driving, to about 200 f max sand driving in hot conditions.. After changing the radiator I took the top and bottom tanks off. The top was pretty clear but from the bottom it was part blocked..

My garage may never be clean again, but my front axle rebuild is complete. All new bearings, Marlin seals, new drive plates yada yada. Birfs looks good and are still quiet so I didn't bother swapping them side to side.

Yeah I thought this was fairly common knowledge at this point. In fact it should be in the "Did You Know?" thread

They all end up leaking eventually. I'm not too worried about it. I'm trying to set money aside for a gear swap so if they'll last that long I'll be happy.
You going to go with 4.88's?

That's the plan when I get to it.
Yup they all will eventually. My marlin seals haven't leak yet but I expect them to leak earlier than oem but at the current rate it might be a very long time. I'm impressed that oem lasted so long, next time if/when I replace the seals it will be oem.

How do you keep the synthetic rope from getting trashed on rocks and stuff?Finished up my winch install with the COMEUP Seal 9.5s
Really impressed with the quality of the winch so far. Looking forward to trying it out. Line speed is pretty good. Not the fastest but definitely not slow. The synthetic rope looks like excellent quality, as does the included fairlead.
As part of my order I also got a winch dampner and a pair of gloves. Not a big deal but will be nice to have.
Since my ARB bumper has been modified (was originally a winch bumper, but the PO cut all the winch brackets off as well as the lower skirt) I needed to add in some way to mount the winch. I like the higher clearance lower part of the bumper and it was pretty simple to solve the mounting. I used a universal winch cradle that I was able to weld across the frame mounting brackets of the bumper.

had a great time at Cruise Moab over the past few days. I led Poison Spider Mesa on Thursday and had a blast with an awesome group. Lots of experience and knowledge that made for a great day. We had Marlin and his son Mike from Marlin Crawler, Jon Bundrant from AllPro, Joe Calleja from CTS, Bryce (former GM from NitroGear). The rest of the group was just as great and we had a good time.
Friday we ran Fins and Things. It was uneventful and a fun mellow run. Saturday we ran Golden Spike. Had some fun guys in that group too and it made for a great day.
The vendor night was quite a bit quieter than in years past and it was evident in many ways that attendance was down this year. Still a great event.
The 80 worked great all 3 days. I needed to tighten up a wheel bearing but other than that there were no issues. The 80 went everywhere I pointed it including a few of the optional challenges like Double Whammy. I'm still working out a few minor quirks since it's a "new to me" truck but overall I'm really happy with it now that it's got some trail time.
