Planned to replace 2nd and 3rd row roof lights with packaged LED units.
The pics show the prototype for the 2nd row. It can take four Baja Designs Rock Light. Is it too much? The four LED units cost about $240.

Why don’t I just use LED panels?
1 Batches differ in dimensions slightly.
2 LED panels don’t have heat sink.
3 The availability is limited these days. They are always out of stock.
This is how it looks on the truck. I am making sure the prototype can be mounted on the truck. The design is subject to change. I would probably only mount two LED units. But there is no space for regular rocker switches in the roof. Need to find a switch with small depth.

M16V7

This make mounts a RAM Ball Adapter with AMPS Plate (RAM-347U) in the place of the third row ashtray. The back plate is needed for the RAM ball to bear a decent weight.

$40 include the face plate, the back plate, and all fastners (AMPS plate is not included).

Anyone with a newer (mine is 2007) able to seat the cupholder with this bracing? Mine seems to be bottoming out before it will seat.

Ben,

Do you have any ideas for this storage area?

I have a 400W inverter that fits perfectly perfectly in there.

I just installed it on my 2006 and originally had the same issue. I found the issue wasn’t that bracing, but the wire loom on the driver side there. I detached it and pushed it below the shifter and the cup holder clicked in perfect. I think that loom is for the second row radio controls?

Do you know the part number on that storage container? Mine actually has a DVD player in that spot...I would like to remove and put the storage piece in there.

Tested the three-switch mount. The rectangular hole is a few millimeters short for three switches. Too bad it cannot be fully recessed.
This is one of the configurations. Planned to have
1. 1V2H (V: Vertical, H: Horozonral)
2. 3V
3. 2V (recessed)
Let me know what you think.

Anymore progress on this, pumped to order 2V recessed and window switch panel.

All fasteners are 18-8 stainless steel and will be provided.

3 Fabrication

The face plate is printed using chopped carbon-fiber nylon. It has a matte black surface finish. No painting/sanding/prepping is needed.

The backing bracket is printed with ABS.

This is the first project that I cooperated with @suprarx7nut utilizing his fantastic Markforged printer. The chopped carbon-fiber nylon has very high stiffness and high toughness compared to ABS I used on most of my makes.

Ben - I have a 2001 LX470. Are these available to order? What parts are needed for complete set up. I'll probably just use for an iPhone at this time, but may want to switch to a pad at some point. Thanks.

@BenCC any progress update on the ashtray replacement part? My home brew 3D printed part I made last year is failing (PLA didn’t expect it to last long) and I’d rather replace with your stuff if I can.

Any chance you can build a mount for the Midland MXT115? Don't know it if will fit in the ashtray spot but maybe a modified version of what you made to replace the sunglass holder?

Hello,
Could you consider making an insert that goes where the factory diff lock switch sits - which will then accept a factory Toyota switch? 2 switches would be good even, but dont think that square shape is large enough...

Hey @BenCC , have you had a chance to make progress on trying to fit (1) or (2) OEM style switches in the diff lock switch location in this pic?
