Will do on the chain, thanks. Yeah, the harness looks rough around there, not so much the individual wires but the outer part is toast

I would carefully inspect every single wire in the harness at the EGR. It only takes one to short out to give you the headache of your life. Once verified then wrap the snot out of it.

245000 miles, supercharged, green coolant switch at some point. #6 cylinder area looks great

Got my header today, needs some work but it will be good

Also, getting my injectors back this week. Excited to see the report on before and after. Got the call that the cylinder head is ready too at the machine shop. Busy weekend ahead

Did some grinding on the flange transition area of the header and smoothed it quite a bit

Picked up the cylinder head today too. Looks pretty good, cost $700 to have done

You gonna port, polish, blueprint? :flipoff2:

I started down that path on my own. Didn't do as mush as I wanted to because I was leaving the country on a business trip. I was able to debur it all, polish a little bit and I did my lazy blueprinting. It was better than nothing....I think

I was in such a rush to get the head to the machinist I didn't look at the port match (or mismatch) til I got it back. It really could use the clean up, I just wish I had done it before I sent it out. I got worried about the machine shop being busy because it's spring and they got it done in a week. It really would be nice to do it. There is a really big gasket mismatch to the intake side. Is that typical?

Good build going, subscribed. What headers are those?
CX racing. There is a thread going on right now about them, I don't know how to link it yet

Yeah I think it is normal but you can see what drove me nuts. I spent the majority of the time deburring and port matching.

Interesting discovery, the original gasket is much closer to matching the intake and head ports than the new toyota oem gasket. Gasket matching using the original gasket will be much easier. Not sure it shows in the pictures but the new gasket is lying over the original one.

I received a bunch of parts for the project. Beno sent me the next round of "while you are in there " parts- starter contacts, thermostat, heater valve, cap, rotor, oem wire set, alternator brushes, rad hoses, water pump, radiator cap, dizzy cap gasket. The phh is getting done in silicone hose.

Next in were my injectors. I had them done at Injector Experts in Ohio. Cast $120 and took about a week. Not a whole lot of difference before and after. I'm still not sure what the sheet means, just the after numbers are a little higher.

Next up was high temperature powder coating on my CX racing header. I did the silver to try to keep the underhood temp lower. I've had a lot of happy customers with this but all I've done of my own are my snowmobile exhaust systems which works great, so it's time I test it out on my own stuff.

I did the downpipe too but forgot to shoot a picture of it

Also go the arp studs from Lightning Motorsports. I am shocked at how fast they got them to me, living up to their name I guess. Thanks for the tip FZJ80AZ.

Awesome thread! I ordered ARP head studs a couple days ago. I have read about this exact kit you showed pictured but when I searched the net for a stud kit I found a kit that is supposedly specifically for the 1FZ. Paradiseracing.com listed no part number though. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I saw that kit too. I almost ordered it but FZJ80AZ posted up his results and I went with the supra kit from Lightning Motorsports. I suspect that the Paradise kit is probably the supra kit but not sure

I Will call them tomorrow for clarification. That header looks sweet but the state of CA has a different opinion.:bang:
