Here are a few pics of what will be the skid for the transfer fuel tank and a couple of teasers:

Teaser 1: Can anyone guess what this is? Not exactly to spec but will be similar.

Teaser 2: Any guesses where this will go?

We have been discussing the front bumper and what we wanted. The LC200 is already a heavy bear, with the gear, gas, H2O, etc. it will be tipping the scales. I opted for a Warn Endurance 12. Reviews have been good and CBI had one they could offer at a very good value. I know Kurt @ Cruiseroutfitters is using a VR10K which had me leaning in that direction, the decision was based on a little more winch capacity at a lower draw and the price-point I was able to get it at. Yes, will be going synthetic rope.

I love the ARB bumpers but they just stick out a little much for my taste. Steve at CBI really does some amazing work - have I said that yet?

Here is where we stand with some roughs. All plastic up front is gone.

The work looks great so far, can't wait to see the finished product!
It looks like the bumpers are tucked pretty tight against the remaining body panels/plastic trim. The TJM and ARB bumpers call for what seems like almost an inch of clearance to account for body/frame movement. Are the guys at CBI taking account of this.
would hate to get a beauty of a bumper mounted up and have it crunch the fender first time you leave the pavement...

Absolutely. I spoke with them about this as well to ensure there is enough play for flex, etc.

Wow. I am VERY interested to see how that front bumper comes together! I've been assuming ARB Bull Bar in front and Slee rear (whenever it's finally ready), but this front bumper you're detailing is giving me pause on the ARB front... Will it include Bull-Bar protection? or is it mainly a smaller profile winch bumper only?

Also going to be very curious about pricing, and whether they'll end up with patterns after this one for replicating the build afterward.

I agree that the main hit against the ARBs are how far forward they stick. Would be great to have a closer fit.

Curious about Air-Bag compatibility, too. Any info on that?

Im interested in the external Fuel tank. It's one mod from my 80 series I miss

@Markuson check out CBI's website:

Bumpers - Rock Sliders - Tire Carriers - Cbioffroad - Cbi Off Road

They make great stuff (I have their rear bumper and A-pillar light brackets on my 4R) -- Nathan is responsive, gives realistic time frames, and generally awesome to deal with.

I looked at their site recentl when I happened to see what was easily the nicest rear bumper I've ever seen on a 4Runner. The driver pointed me to CBI, but I was disappointed to see no LC offerings. I didn't realize they were ready to do custom stuff, though, so it's got me curious.

Here are a couple shots of the 4Runner rear setup:

Several things I really like:
-I love the "slider-like" bar that wraps the rear corners above the bumper (though I question the strength of it due to the wimpy mount plate in back with a big hole in it.
-Interesting way to mount the Hi-Lift
-I like how the bumper angles around the corners with flush lights, and I like that everything is on a single swing-out.
-Room for probably a 3rd jerry can on a 200, rather than the SILLY waste of space on the ARB rear with only a single jerry can capacity if you have the tire career.
-Intresting tire mount at an angle, which preserves the full approach angle of the bumper without a low-hanging tire corner. The anger gives you a few more inches as you leave a bank or rock step due to tire corner being lifted with angle.
-Tow hitch is the lowest point. Bumper stays above
-Super simple means of locking jerry cans down with a wing-nut, and a hole for a padlock.

Anyway... Good stuff!

I assume Christo has seen these things...? There's a lot to like.

Yep, I just got off the phone with Steve, Lead Fabricator at CBI, and he just did flex testing on front and rear, all clears no problem. I searched high and low for many many months comparing front and rear bumpers. I was actually quoting ARB F & R's and was speaking with Paul May from Equipt1, he mentioned Nathan was thinking about doing a 200 series. Needless to say, I called Nathan and after a few weeks of many conversations, I pulled the trigger.

CBI has templates and will be manufacturing most EVERYTHING you see on my truck, I basically gave them my rig for 4 weeks to model their products off of. What you see if what you will be able to order, with the exception of the fuel tank probably, although I am sure they have templates for that as I told Nathan there would be a market for it. You will also be able to customize anything you see on my rig to what you want based of the baseline template. These things are going to fly, although I am hoping I get the glory of being a one-off for a few weeks. :)

Air bags should not be a problem. They are activated by pressure from the front bumpers usually and that will still be in place.

CBI should have pricing ready in the next 4 weeks but give Nathan at CBI a call and tell him I sent you over from this thread, he will give you an idea of pricing, timing, etc. They are at the Sportsman Expo in SLC this week so he may be a little slower to respond.

I will have details of the tank next week or when I get back with the truck after next weekend.. I am SURE you all will see 20 photos of CBI's work on my thread in the coming 2 weeks. I know, I know, I will try to get them up sooner.

The tank will be fully integrated where the spare tire was, and will be approximately 3-4 inches higher than the spare providing plenty of clearance with the capability of carrying almost 6 jerry cans worth of fuel! It will have a fuel pump that pumps to a disconnect close to the OEM fuel filler neck and all you need to do is connect a hose, put the other end into the OEM fuel filler neck, and flip a switch. it won't be on the fly, but it works for me.

That should solve the code issue. Please get photos of how and where they move the Charcoal Canister

will they be selling this?

Exactly - everything you listed is why I went with CBI.

I probably will not have the wrap-around bars but still thinking on that.

Yes there definitely is room for 3, we are still seeing if I will be able to fit a 3 Jerry option (water for me) as I will have a lot of 'features' back there... maxtraxx, propane tank, shovel, axe, hi-lift, etc. we will see. That is the other reason I do not favor the ARB rear bumper, a single Jerry? Really?

Exactly! No Codes, and for me in wonderful California, No LAW issues. :) I will try but can't promise that just yet, they are rolling pretty fast with it but I have requested pictures of every step of the way.

I am not sure if Nathan plans to fully produce this, though they should have the templates to reproduce easily if someone wants it.

Small quibble to an otherwise awesome bumper...

The wrap-around bars would be great for when you are leaning in hard, trying to just miss a tree brach, or boulder that wants to juuuuust clip your corners. But the bar in the photo I posted seems to have its strength betrayed by the thin piece that it attaches to in the rear... If I were going to have the wrap-around bar, I'd want it to be more solidly anchored in back--maybe welding the bar itself back down to the bumper, rather than to that thin piece with the hole in it.

This is what I'm referring to...

IMG_6443.webp

Seems like if any side-force were pressing against the wrap-bar, this point would fold. Not sure why it's so flimsy with the hole through it.

Seems like it could be much beefier without really changing much....
But anyway... Small potatoes... Looks like a great bumper overall. :)

I agree but I think it would hold up. On the 200 series, may be a different story as there is much more weight leaning on it. Nonetheless, I see your point.

I know, I am waiting to see where the fuel filler neck ends up for the transfer tank to make the decision, it will be recessed, so we will see.

Ok, so Steve was able to get everything up, tacked and the way he liked it. This bumper is solid, provides ample protection, and does not protrude out in front of the rig. Steve will be working on the front bars after he's got her fully welded, sanded, etc. Then finishing the Rear swing-aways, aux fuel, skid plates, and rock sliders..

You can really see high much time Steve spent in following the lines of the 200 series, it's personality, and make sure that noting stuck out too far.
