Bad experience with CruiserParts

I buy from businesses I know and have a personal relationship with. Names such as Cruiser Outfitters, Slee Offroad and Valley Hybrids come to mind instantly. Business relationships and more importantly personal relationships are built up over time. My boat guy that I have used for 27 years is casting off for the last time at the end of September. I now know how some of my clients may have felt when I retired.

BAZINGA!!!!!

It doesnt belong here, it should be in the bad sellers section

It is sad that some LC businesses conduct such dishonest practices. You will imagine they will have passion towards their business and customer and go beyond to help their customers assuming the business owner is LC enthusiasts.

The world is full of dishonest, disreputable, immmoral and opportunistic individuals.

It is unrealistic to expect that to bypass the Land Cruiser family.

Remember that every violent felon out there had a mom and dad.

Whenever I buy from a company field the first time I always google "company name reviews" never had a problem. Don't feel bad at all for the OP.

I also had a bad experience with them many years ago regarding a power steering box for my 40 that I had at the time. I would never deal with them again. I was green in the world of Cruisers. Now I know who the good reputable businesses are. Valley hybrids is close enough to the OP to have gotten an engine from. Expensive lesson but sometimes that how we learn.

Bought a 2f head from them a few years ago to replace the cracked one on my rebuild. The shop doing my rebuild said the one they sent was worse than the one that came off.
Fortunately the second one they sent was ok, but took a while. Don't think I'll buy from them again, which is a shame because there aren't many options in New England for used 40 parts.

Was there any indication that the first engine was rebuilt at all? Or any tags to say who actually did the rebuild?

I wonder if the 3rd party rebuilder was ever made aware of the problem

Leave a Google review. They can not pay to remove those or change them.

We were made aware of this thread from a helpful customer. We have changed several policies in response to criticisms from this very forum. If you are having an issue with email responses anyone can feel free to call us anytime at 603-847-9400 and we answer as many calls as we can. We have anywhere from 2-4 people on the phones taking orders, giving tracking numbers, trying to answer tech questions, etc. All day long. Yes, we try our best to pull and ship parts as quickly as we can. They are used parts from cruisers from all over the USA. Just got in 2 cruisers from New Mexico last week. So, clean parts and such are available. You do have to specify your expectations, etc. when ordering or you will get what we decide is functional or usable. If you get it and its not then we can exchange for other qualities, etc. If you need something in particular quickly we have a spot on our invoice where we can specify deadlines for our parts guys.

We do not pay labor charges for any parts whether they are large parts or small parts. Everyone rates are different and nobody pays labor. Have you ever gotten parts from Toyota, Napa or a vendor on this forum and after they failed or didn't work out get them to give you labor charges? When the customer is local and we install a failed part then we pay for and cover all the labor charges here at our shop. Everything from a blower motor to a complete engine replacement is covered when we do the work.

On this particular transaction with this customers engine, we had it rebuilt, we checked with the machine shop after the customer sent us pictures and they told us it was good. But unfortunately it had a slight tap in it after installation. It was not a knock such as a rod bearing and it was not a continual knock at varying RPM's either. The customer drove it and it ran well asides from the tapping noise. We were unable to figure out over the phone or video files what was making the noise. Toyota couldn't figure it out. The rebuild shop was talked to and they actually have this engine to the side to re test and figure out the noise when they get a chance because we and they want to know what happened. We will update this thread whenever we get that result.

We are extremely sorry that the customer incurred additional charges, nobody would be happy in this instance. We ate over a grand in shipping charges between everything and we only make around $500 on rebuilt engines. So as you can see we don't have much to play with to appease the customer. Typically in cases like this we actually offer the customer a refund for the amount we "made money" on the transaction.

In closing if you have an issue just talk to us and we can try to help you out. Nobody has much time to leave good reviews online Thank you very much to those who do!! But you can rest assured if your angry you will try and leave a negative review. So reviews online are extremely tilted to the upset side.

I disagree about online reviews. The company I work for has a 4.9 on Google on over 225 reviews. We handle the bad ones with good customer service. The customer is the reason a business exist.

I’m a repeat Cruiser Parts customer and have had very good customer service, received “as described parts” and experienced fast shipment. I’m a bit closer to them geographically than most, so this probably plays a part in the fast shipment statement.

My most recent transaction with CP occurred Wednesday morning of this week. I had a switch fail in a LC shipping out this weekend. I told them the how important it was to get the part by Friday. They picked, packaged and shipped the part by Thursday morning and is scheduled to be delivered by 11am today via USPS.

Communication is vital on both sides of a transaction, especially with a deadline. If you have an expectation, you need to clearly state it from the get-go.

Bought from them 4 times.
Every time the part(s) were exactly as described and delivered timely and well packaged.
I get it...... there is always something that can and will go wrong with transactions especially with used parts.

I have only bought some odd parts from them a couple of years ago and not had a need for anything else, back then they gave great service and posted the parts to me here in Spain and did not get silly with their prices.

If they have gone downhill it is a shame to hear, if I had not read this thread I would have not given it a second thought to purchase from them.

regards

Dave

My story is a much smaller deal. Bought a tailgate panel carpet to put new carpet on (I was buying the panel). When I got it, they had old carpet still attached. So, I started removing it so I could glue-on the new carpet.

One side was covered with carpet, the other with Dollar General white paper (dollar general stickers on the paper). I got 1/2 way through and realized the panel was broken in half. It felt flimsy, but I could not tell it was fully broken with the carpet and paper on.

So I called them and said it was broken. Can I have another or can you refund me. The answer?

"They are all broken, people put their knees on them and break them. You can't return it because you took the carpet off."

Sigh.

I said, "I bought the carpet PANEL, not the carpet. I don't expect a broken panel."

They said they'd talk to the owner, but I probably can't return an item I altered. Not holding my breath.

The seat belt receptacles I got were great, though. Gotta' give them props for that. I also bought a new 5-spd transmission from them, it's been fine.

But still, "They are all broken." I'll laugh about that answer for years.

Okay, so if I complain, only right to post if they make good. And, they they did come back and made a fair offer to fix it. They are going to sell me an aftermarket/new panel and pay shipping to me. They'll apply the credit from the broken one. I'll send back this one at my cost (cheaper because it's going to be folded in two!).

All's well that end's well in this case.

Glad that you're getting it "straightened out" so to speak! hahaha

Can you post a photo of the part you're talking about? I think I know what it is, but was trying to visualize it and make sure. Maybe we need a HD aftermarket panel produced for them or something better than stock?
