Any one ever tried to put a Rolling Floor onto a shorter drawer? To mount something inbetween the drawer and the 2nd row seats and have it cover by the Rolling Floor?

I think he is asking about using the shorter box on the bottom and then putting a roller floor on top of the shorter box.

I have a short box that is near new in storage.

That video they cut and welded the box .. looks like a bunch of work to do that.

I know the short box will bolt on top of the long box, but I have not seen anyone do it the other way around.

I would think it would be easy to bolt the roller floor to the short box. "but" when installing 2 long boxes there is a beam on the bottom that ties the 2 long boxes together and this would not line up between the short box and the long box. You would likely need to move the beam on the bottom so it aligned between the both boxes. This beam is just screwed on, so some drilling and repositioning it would likely work.

FYI a battery will fit inside the FitKit beside the long box. I have a large lithium in that area.

Whatever works better for you. I like the simplicity of the RD, but the RDRF is convenient for fridges. More moving parts with the potential for rattles though..

The roller floor locks with a twist knob inside the drawer. Open the drawer and actuate the knob lock on the roller floor. Once the drawer is closed the knob is not accessible. So only one key lock on the drawer. You can lock either, none or both.

I have an RD and RDRF model, and kinda wish I had ordered RDRF models for both sides. The sliding floor is pretty handy, especially to make it easier to access stuff at the very back of the drawer, since they don't extend all the way out.

Don't you find other stuff you have on the top of the drawers fall into the opening when you slide the top open? In a way, accessing the drawers' contents from top... goes against the idea of drawers. I've only recently started thinking about drawers; and in the interest of keeping things simple I am inclined to go with RD model, but maybe RDRF is worth it.

If you put a suit case or container on the top at the back It's easier to get it out with a RDRF. You don't "have to" slide it out to get at something, you have a choice.

I have the RDRF on one side and the RD on the other. If I was to do it over I would put the RDRF on one side the 1/2 height RDRF on the other side.. That way when you get groceries or something it's held in by the tail gate vs l held in with the rear window.

Don't you find other stuff you have on the top of the drawers fall into the opening when you slide the top open? In a way, accessing the drawers' contents from top... goes against the idea of drawers. I've only recently started thinking about drawers; and in the interest of keeping things simple I am inclined to go with RD model, but maybe RDRF is worth it.

If the top of the drawers was fully loaded with stuff, I guess yes it could get in the way of sliding the top open to get to the back of the deep drawer. Depends on what it is. It could also just ride with the sliding top. But I rarely have anything on top of mine except an old blanket to protect it from dirt.

5 hours later and the ARB Outback drawers are in!! You do need a dremel to carve out a small piece of plastic over two of the bolts in the trunk. It’s hidden under the carpet though so not a big deal. Plenty of space for the pups too

This may seem like an OCD question, but is there an issue with the drawer system covering up the vents on inside, drivers side panel? guessing this is for recirc or pressure regulation?

Not a problem. In favt, I placed my large i verter in that passenger soace *because it will benefit from the AC intake that sits back there. Just avoid cramming stuff directly against the slats of tge intake and then you’ll have no issues.

For consideration—note tgat tge length of tge slats/grill back tgere are much linger tgan the actual intake opening. So take a closer look and you see tgat you inly need to keep on portion of it clear withing the space in the fit kit. Passenger side has no intake, so cram away on tgat side.
