I finally got the lower tailgate channel felt that I ordered the other day, it’s from a mid 80’s full size Ford Bronco. I had to trim the outer edge off both sides, but it really fits well. There is also a felt from Steele Rubber that I think fits pretty well, I’d definitely would have gone with it if I didn’t find this other Bronco felt.

It’s also possible that you wouldn’t have to cut the outer edge and actually have it sit on the channel like it did in the Ford, but it was about 1/4” too short and It might cause more edge drag if it’s not deep enough.

I also got my Timken rear axle bearings. I thought what was in the box was interesting.

So now I’m trying to decide if I should split the t-case from the transmission while I’ve got it on the rack and fix the seal. I know it’s bad since it had the fill plug hose to fill plug hose fix. I took that off since the line was leaking so bad, but I’ve either got to fix the seal or put the line back on.

I was thinking the same, but I just found a nice setup that @shipmag sells, I'd consider his solution, very clean setup.

The other thing I see as an issue is the Transmission is supposed to run a GL4 and the T-Case a GL5 gear oil, so I can see this being an issue. I’ve always liked running Redline MT90 in my Transmissions.

Do both!!!

I'm also a fan of Redline MT-90. I think you can run it in the transfer case without issue.

Sorry I haven’t posted for a while, but just got busy. I finished the exhaust, re-jetted the carb for high altitude, installed and built a carburetor blower bracket, I welded up the holes in the floor, and finished most the tailgate issues. I also repaired the rear axle seal and while doing that I replaced both bearings, seals, brake shoes, wheel cylinders on the passenger side and drums. I’m getting real close to having it ready to be street worthy. Attached are a few photos of the progress.

I forgot to take pictures of the rear axle and brakes completed, sorry. I have springs coming in a couple weeks, and I’ll get the lift on and new tires.
A couple questions, first, does anyone have a picture of the rear tailgate regulator spring location? The one that returns the bracket to a position that locks the handle from opening when the glass is up? Second, does anyone have upper tailgate rubber they’d like to sell?

Thanks

Sorry, I should have taken a picture, I’ll do that next time I’m out in the shop, but I need a picture after the regulator is installed where the linkage is hooked up between the handle mechanism and the regulator. Mine had an additional spring to return the bracket to the lock position.

I assume you mean this spring on the left side.

That’s the spring!!! Thanks, I had it attached in that location, but it seemed a bit stretched and kind of odd to be attached to the clip so I attached it to the bar itself at the handle side. I’ll be putting it back in that factory location.

Thanks

A couple more things competed. I repaired the broken plastic vent pull, and added felt to the back of the floor mat, looking to make it quieter to drive. I also got my springs today. It’ll be fun to see the difference.

Just got these two tailgate gears in the mail, I found this guy on YouTube who is printing them. Great guy to work with matthewliebe@yahoo.com

Those little vent pulls are brittle! Mine broke on the inside end. Where all the bends are.

Nice to have those working!
It is nice, I just bought some ABS welding rod and plastic welded it together worked great.

Got the lift and shocks installed, I need to extend the front bump stops, bleed the brakes and it’ll be ready for it’s new set of tires. I did extend the brake lines, and the breathers are relocated under the hood.
