Ok thanks. I’ll have to figure out the fitting to run the hose to that. Puzzle! HahaThe one where the temp sending units are on the head. To the right of the hose. The hose fitting in the photo is the vacuum line for the 4wd system.
Hopefully someone can chime in with the thread size. It’s not something Uber rare or anything.Ok thanks. I’ll have to figure out the fitting to run the hose to that. Puzzle! Haha
Thanks! I wonder if there is a way to run the hose there and use the temp sensor. I assume so but I’ll have to look at the parts that are connected.Hopefully someone can chime in with the thread size. It’s not something Uber rare or anything.
Edit: Ok had to look more because I was curious . Hahaha. Found this fitting in the garage and it fits the head!

Pitch looks to be 14 and size is likely 1/2”

Indeed! Just more fittings. Thanks! I wonder if there is a way to run the hose there and use the temp sensor. I assume so but I’ll have to look at the parts that are connected.
Of course! Haha. So a hose from thermostat housing to water pump, a hose off the Union pipe to the heater and a hose off that heat sensor fitting (with additional fitting) to the heater as well.
So definitely a hose to the union pipe. The second hose can either be at the water pump OR at the back of the head. Your call. Most aftermarket went with the water pump because it is easier to get fittings to tap into that junction vs the weird unions at the back of the head used by the factory.Of course! Haha. Does anyone know the part number for the upper radiator hose for the tall thermostat housings? If I’m not mistaken it would be the 79-83 hose I THINK (even though mine is a ‘64). I can’t find the number anywhere. It is mostly flat looking (meaning no bends down from the radiator to the shorter thermostat housing). If I am mistaken maybe someone can clarify.
I believe it is this one, but not finding the actual part number to verify.

The base on the later pump is thicker. So different alternator bracket. It just barely clears the early lower thermostat housing. But the overall depth from the pulley to base is the same so the belts line up as long as you adjust or get later alternator bracket. I tried to document my journey going back to the early setup here showing the differences PNW 67 Patina Blue - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/pnw-67-patina-blue.1289865/page-6I’ve also read that the later water pumps are different heights and wouldn’t match up with the belts. Is that accurate??
I found a company that will rebuild the original one for $200. They are the company on eBay that has the actual water pump for the earlier years…or you can buy the rebuild kit, but looks like some matching would need to be done which is out of my league.

I posted some pics here on the heater setup. Let me know if this is what you are looking for. PNW 67 Patina Blue - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/pnw-67-patina-blue.1289865/page-4#post-14699350Ok so the pic above. @rainingagain do you have the parts you used in that pic of the ‘t’ and the other part. Do you have pics of where that heater hose is going? Would be helpful to see the lower radiator hose as well. I think I’m catching on now. This would be running less hoses under the hood…or at least running the proper way.
Ok thanks. Mine has the straight alternator bracket. Would that work with the later water pump? The base on the later pump is thicker. So different alternator bracket. Not mine but this is what the later setup looks like on a early 1F. I can understand why people move to the later setup - you can get the parts from Oreillys.

I’ll follow up on the other posts…and pics of heater.

Ok, thanks. I might just order one and see if it works. I did find the company that will rebuild the existing one for $200…so not sure which way to go.The early bracket looked like this and that is what mine looks like. When someone installed the later pump on my rig, they just beat the bracket straight to make it line up which I undid.
I'm not an expert on the differences but from my experience, you have the later alternator bracket already that accommodates the thicker base, but shimmed up to work.
