Poured the coolant in, went to get in the truck to start it up and, what's this? I still have a wire tag reminder hanging from the steering wheel.

Yup. Little baggie under the front bumper with a new set of hardware...waiting to be installed. NOW it's ready.

Really, I'm so ready to move on. But, there are these little things that keep catching my eye.

And the alternator is gonna have to come back out. I overlooked the fact that it has a GM pulley on the front. That simply won't do.

Yes Mark, I have the same issues. I've been down the rabbit hole, climbed the mountain and I am now back in the rabbit hole. Just when I think I am about finished, something else is yelling at me to change. I'm almost there though. I did fabricate a "close to original" license plate bracket out of a later model FJ40 for the rear of the 45. It's being coated today.

I welded dash ribs into a 1974 tub cause I couldn't go without them. Took a whole day. Cheers to us! Hahaha

It's the little things that count.

I FINALLY got the engine bay squared away for now ( the urge is still strong tho) enough for a drive. Put in the coolant, went to put the cap back on and had one of those AHHH moments. Factory radiator tank with embossed emblem and chain anchor.

I can’t believe it’s been almost five years without an update. I came in looking for a pic I don’t have. I guess Ill have to take it…and post up.

So, another five years have gone by, and I’ve decided to prep the truck for sale.

Had it towed to the shop in May to overhaul the brake system, starting with the front. The front axle was just about the only thing that I didn’t rebuild in ‘92 when I did the frame-up. I knew that I was going to put a tandem MC on, and I elected to build the truck with ‘71 brakes. As it happened, I picked up an unfinished ’71/40 at that time that had a supposedly rebuilt front axle, so I just rolled it under the truck.

Well, I had a pair of ‘71 backing plated powderpainted about ten years ago while I was building a powertrain for @DSB345 , so I figured I would swap those in while I had the axle open for the brakes. As soon as I started tearing into it, I realized that I was going to have to redo everything! Blue RTV where the hub and spindle gaskets were supposed to be. Replacement knuckle studs that were longer than OE. Yada, yada.

Took the axle housing off the truck, chiseled off the welding slag, scraped it to bare metal and repainted. Disassembled the leaf packs, cleaned and painted. Finally, the fun part: reassembling the knuckles with NOS yellow zinc studs and nuts.

The wiper retainers and hardware are still the same from ‘92; they just needed a little cleaning.

@HENDOG I have to admit that I’ve met stupid people and then there is you. Why the **** you continue to obsess about a truck you sold to a restoration guy - and then got mad he restored it - is beyond me. And then you take time out of your day to post on the BaT listing that this truck was hacked up? The only hack is you - you ****ing loser.
