2nd vote for brazing. Find a plumber and give him a coat hanger. It'll be good as new.
Man, those are really the old days

Hey thanks White stripe, would it be nice if these were already in place? I have tried to contact the ARB in california to discuss with them my problem, Of course all I get is

thanks, did you do it yourself?
an answer bot, no real person, All I can say is that I hope Mr Trump with do something quick, MY feeling is that the arb spends tons of money on making a complicated and extensive web site but no people to help.
I believe carb has stopped receiving federal funding and has laid off quite a few employees. Might be why you get an answer bot. I don't live in California so I don't follow it that closely. I believe there was considerations for a law through carb that brake pads under carb had to be low dust carb approved brake pads. Not sure if that's going to be a thing now.

That Calif manifold retains a LOT of heat right under the carburetor - great for vapor locking! I would do whatever it takes to ditch that miserable thing and replace it with a Fed spec manifold. I took one of those Calif. monsters off my '76 FJ55, and it was treat leaving it in the dust.

The Calif. exhaust manifold is a very poor design, in an attempt to not put a catalyst on those vehicles.
