JM&A Group - JM&A Today

Toyota has a long, rich history on the island of Puerto Rico, and Nicolas Amaro is dedicated to preserving and sharing it with generations to come. Nicolas Amaro, the founder of the Amaro Group, which is Puerto Rico’s top-selling Toyota franchise, also has perhaps the foremost collection of restored Toyotas in the world.

“Toyota is part of Puerto Rico,” explains Adriel Amaro, Nicolas’ son and general manager of the Amaro Group. “People understand the quality of Toyota here; they treat their car like a part of the family.”

A mechanic by trade, Nicolas Amaro has a passion for restoring rare and significant Toyotas, which are the top-selling car in Puerto Rico. He currently has more than 100 cars in his collection, which is housed in a nearly 40,000-square-foot museum.

“When you start, you never end,” Adriel Amaro says. “You just keep adding and adding because each car has something special, something unique.”

Nicolas Amaro says that he started the museum because it’s very popular for owners of other brands, such as Ford and Chevrolet, to keep those cars to show the history and the quality of the cars. “For Toyota, they don’t do that,” he says. “That’s why I wanted to do it.”
