A journey with my boys- The Elf Barn as I call it. (2 Viewers)

I am back. We celebrated my dad’s life. Processing it each day. Looking ahead. The elves were at the barn. @SipLife putting in his vintage air system in prep for SAS6. @Cowboy45 is building a radiator shroud for Hades. The electric fan is ok, but looks like it doesn’t keep cool as well on long stretches. Adding a 19” mechanical fan and thermal fan clutch. @Cowboy45 wants to take Hades to SAS6. Two 40’s this year. I will be pit crew with Tundra and trailer. It will be epic. Perhaps boys will get the iron butt award for the youngest road warriors.

And one hell of of a gas bill.
Looking forward to seeing Y'all again !! Very excited about SAS, very relaxing compared to the type of wheeling that I usually do !!

Ahem. Yes. Live once. Tundra is free gas. Perks of the job.

Both your kids may have found this already, but if they're looking for high quality how-to welding information, check out Jody Collier of Welding Tips & Tricks on YouTube. Wealth of information about anything they might want to know.

So very nice to see young men who have interests outside of a screen in their hands.

Welcome home!

On a slightly different note, you should get the elves to wear long pants when welding. If slag gets in those boots, they like so much, it could cause a serious burn before the boot could be removed. 😉

So we got the shroud done. Came out great. Put it into Hades. Bolted up the fan and clutch. Fired it up. Fan pushes air forward rather than pulls through shroud. Thought we put the fan in backwards and took it out and flipped it. Same issue. Took shroud out and tried to run it to see if it was due to shroud geometry. Fan still pushes. Dialed SBC guru @POTATO LAUNCHER because we were stumped. Shot him some pics. Turns out we have a counterclockwise fan!!! SBC fan should be clockwise. Reportedly fan clutch also needs to be clockwise. Learned something new today. Off to Summit to get the right bits tomorrow. I was stumped thinking our shroud had issues.

Learning SBC as we go here. TEQ part numbers usually get us plug and play. 🤷‍♂️

Last minute mod before heading for the hills in AR. Bolted on a patina bumper that was on @SipLife ‘s truck. Just the right touch. 10hp+😁

Trails today were not difficult but had them really think through gear selection for engine braking downhill and crawling uphill. Trying to find an off-road park for some camber stuff this afternoon. We did take time to soak the area in as did Lonestar. Trucks are doing great. Temps good. Drivetrain working very well. ‘Twas 107F ambient today. Ate enough dust. Don’t need toothpaste. Rubbing my finger over my teeth would work just fine.

Had to go off the beaten path to find good trails to practice on. Boys did great. They got a handle on engine braking and leveraging the power of 2 and 4 low. Tranny was usually in 1 most of the way. Did some stall and starts. Picking lines was also good.
