That is great!

All three of my boys (all adults now) are good mechanics. One of them just finished an LS swap into his FJ60. But none of them have ever done anything as cool as restoring a Mustang! Two are engineers, and one is a geologist, but working with their hands has helped them in their careers in every case, besides having a life-long useful skill and a fun hobby.

We finally made it to the barn after a hiatus with Covid madness.

Step 1 get old Landy’s drive train out in prep for 2HT/5spd drive train mock up. The catchers mask and warn 8274 winch was HEAVY. Hooked it to the overhead chain hoist. Elves banded well together getting this done.

Took bumper and winch off together. Andre the previous was insanely meticulous. Anti seize on all bolts. Zero broken bolts on tear down.

Bib off and ready to yank it. Andre galvanized all the main bits before paint. Surface rust in some places but preserved.

Yank time. Sorry about the many pics. I am a proud dad. Wonderful moments to cherish with my sons. @Cowboy45 ’s first engine pull.

The engine bay makes for a nice couch.

Next the elves broke down the old H and scavenged good bits. 12V alternator, starter, all the brackets, mounts, remote oil reservoir. Some similar parts to the 2H. They also separated the transmission and transfer case.

we are going to keep the bits and transmission and transfer case. Original equipment for Old Landy. The block is too far gone. It will be scrapped.

Once we got that done we placed Old Landy back to the side and got my other son’s project blue bonnet to the entrance to the barn and power washed it getting ready for engine mock up.
Both Old Landy and Bluebonnet will get their engine bays ready for drive train mock up. We will be doing installs at the same time. Both will get 2HTs.

He is a weed!! I keep telling him I might get to drive Old Landy. He won’t fit in at this rate. 🤣🤣

What great pictures! Keep em' coming. Both trucks are looking good. Nice to see progress.

Great threat, really enjoy reading about the adventures you and your boys are taking. Thanks for sharing.

thanks for sharing. They are great kids. Sponges. Hoping they learn how to do life more confidently.

Awesome pics CD. Can’t recall if I’ve ever seen Keaton’s ears :). Are the barber shops open up there or did dad grab the shears?

Haha Jimmy! Those ears are indeed a rare siting. Neither I or barber did it. Mom went at it. Shears it was.
