i have two questions for you. what front mud flaps are you running and does your windshield squirter spray above your wiper blade? i have very similar wipers and my squirter lower stream hits the blade until it starts to move. just wondering if it’s bent or if it’s the aftermarket wiper. beautiful trail beautiful day beautiful family!

Front mud flaps I believe are stock and have been on my 60 since I bought it.
My windshield squirters shoot above the wipers just fine.
I live in northern Oregon. I just bought just over 4 acres 30 minutes to Crater Lake National Park.
 
The well driller set the PVC liner at ground level. I wanted the well outside of a building so needed to cut the liner lower for a pitless adapter. Decided to lift the liner and check the PVC screen.

I brought 30 slot screen for better flow rate so decided to replace the screen while I was there.

Set the PVC liner and installed the submersible well pump with the kids.

Shock chlorinated the well before I left the property Friday night to allow the chlorine to sanitize the well til Saturday morning. Returned and pumped the chlorine out and also did a flow test.

15 gpm at 70 psi.

Opened the valve wide open and it maxed my flow meter out. Probably 30 gpm.

Static was 20.5’ drewdown and stabilized at 40’ pumping 30 gpm.

After testing well, pulled the submersible pump. Dug home with trackhoe and cut in pitless adapter holes for submersible and hand pump.

Stainless steel tee with 1” rubber bleedback to drain water from hand pump stand to prevent it from freezing. When the hand pumps stops pumping the water drains back down the well.

Today while making breakfast decided a pine tree in the middle of the lot needed to be limbed up. Being a (little) OCD I grab the Stihl chainsaw and start climbing.

The well was all done. Next will be building a pumphouse with all the pvc lines and valves. Get power pulled from power pole at street and install a meter and breaker panel at the pumphouse. Tree I limbed is behind the well to the right.

I’ll check when I get some time.

Getting some silver in my tcase fluid. Time to investigate. Wanted to get rebuild kit from Cruiser Outfitters but the kit was on sale at Marlin Crawler. Also confirmed my 34MM idler shaft.

No other tcase rebuild kit had these high/ low gear bushings so thought it would be good to get these while I’m in there.

My transfer case fluid was getting thick paint grey color. Ordered a tcase rebuild kit from Marlin Crawler on sale but they responded it’d be 3 weeks before they’d get the product from Japan. Called Cruiser Outfitters and decided to order from Kurt @cruiseroutfit. Mike @boots4 was there to be a big assist helping out. As always a wealth of knowledge and support.

Once the front half of the split case was off it was obvious where the color was coming from.

The oil slinger broke off the idler gear due to no spacer between the NV4500 adapter bearing and the main output gear in the transfer case. This allowed the gear to push into the back of the housing and crew into the housing and oil plate cover to the breather.

Broken tabs from the oil slinger which were pushed into the back of the housing. The slinger broke off and was sent to the bottom of the transfer case.

The mangled remains of the oil slinger. Next was pressure washing the thick gear oil sludge and cleaning everything up.

Reassembling the gears and saw the gears were not flush. Being at my shop at work I had access to lots of pipe. Found 1-1/4” pipe fit perfectly around the output shaft. Cut a short piece of pipe in the bandsaw.

A 7/8” spacer between the Advance Adapter bearing and the transfer case gear allowed the gears to perfectly mesh together. Also made a new oil plate cover for the tcase breather.

A couple of hang ups were the pocket bearing in the transfer case output shaft. The bearing cage and rollers broke but the body was stuck in the shaft. It took a lunch break to get some thoughts together. Mike and I were getting a bit hangry! Luckily we had a Dremel tool at work. Took the round sanding disc and made 2 slits on both sides of the body and was able to finally get it removed. Forgot to take pics.
I bought the HI/LO bushings and replaced them. Lubricated the shaft with gear oil, the bushings were still a bit tight on the shaft. Sprayed on some penetrating oil and it allowed them to free up a bit.

Whenever Mike and I get together to work on Snowball❄ the weather is wild. Last time it snowed. Yesterday it downpoured pretty steady and by late afternoon a wind squall blew through and knocked down one of my dads trees.

With a swap things need to be customized. After getting the front of the split case
we had an additional bearing. We felt the main output shaft from the transmission could use some support at the tail of the shaft.

The bearing fit perfectly so cut the shaft spacer to allow the bearing to fit in the housing and properly on the shaft.

The shaft spacer was too short to cut so a pipe clamped into the bandsaw clamps worked great to remove a 1/4” of the spacer.

Bearing set into the housing. Finished up the rest of the linkage and drive shafts. We attached the exhaust pipe, the Marman flanges are an awesome product.
Took it for a test drive and noise from tcase was gone. The shifting felt solid. Mike and I had a 12 HR day on the rebuild. Having the right tools and know how was a lot of help.
The tcase rebuild video from George at Cruiser Brothers was very helpful.

I busted my slinger also but with the spacer in. My split case is eating itself to pieces but it still works. I’ll be switching back to 80 series cases in the next two months to ease my mind on long trips.

Are you running a NV4500?
The bearing we added of the front of the split case really stabilized the transmission output shaft.
