Will 1/2” cable work on the series 12 WARN? I have a large spool of it from our pump hoist.

Waaaay too big. Steel cable is already heavy enough. Steel winch cables are normally 3/8". Get some synthetic and loose 80 lbs off the front of the truck.

3/8” is standard for the 12K WARN I’ve seen online. Just didn’t think a 1/8” would make much difference other than heavier and less room for cable on the drum. It’s free which you can’t beat.

I'm not saying it won't work. Just that it's way less then ideal. Plus you will probably loose a bunch of length that you'll be able to have spooled up.

It’s free but may not use it. I’ll see how it works.

Went for longer drive today and was going to drive home when I noticed oil pressure was at Low. Found wire came off terminal at the sender.
I saw some transmission fluid leaking at the top of shift tower riser below the shifter. Is that a gasket seal?

Do you have early or late top plate? Directions for my short shift kit calls for RTV for the seal between top plate and tower. Also on the bolts that hold it down.

My short shifter tower is blue. If you can unbolt the shifter and its square you have the newer top plate.

Bingo

So awesome to have this site to look back on what was installed and how.

Does yours throw a tantrum getting in reverse?

Not in reverse. I do have issues with first sometimes. I have to go to second and then up to first. I blame the 60 series master adapted to Dodge slave. That why new build is staying all Dodge.

Every transmission shop I’ve talked to said that the NV4500 can be a bit temperamental. It goes into reverse when I release the clutch about 1/2 way.

That’s how 1st is with me. I don’t think the push rod is going in far enough. My pedal is maxed out on adjustment. Once I have the 75 clutch confirmed to work I will make another adapter for the 80 to run Dodge MC. I also don’t like the 80 series clutch pedal that has all the springs and plastic. Seems over engineered.

I've determined that every NV4500 has it's own unique quirks. My favorite was @GLTHFJ60 with the short shift kit. It was niiice. Also, mine has leaked a little bit from the shift tower before too.

So you don't have steering stops right now? When you go to weld those on you should add some knuckle gussets as well. It's not too hard to bend a 60 axle right at the knuckle.

Well since your's seems to be giving you issues, I'll offer my my stock shifter as a straight trade. :grinpimp: I updating my last post suggesting you add some knuckle gussets if you didn't already.

I got the crank case breather ran out of the engine bay and back by then transmission frame rail with some 3/4” black poly pipe. I don’t see why I can’t extend the line back toward the rear axle.

Do you think the style of shifter could be causing the issue?
I haven’t added any knuckle gussets. You have some pictures?

I’m going to check torque on my wheel spacers tomorrow and drive the 60 home. Today was such a nice day and I miss it. My ram 3500 6 speed is really comfortable though. I’ve put about 10K miles on it since starting the swap. Goal was keeping the mileage down buts it’s so nice to have 3 vehicles.
