91 3FE to 2UZ Swap (1 Viewer)

After witnessing @Zjohnsonua build his 60 (Camo 2uz Swap), it kicked me into gear to do this swap...

Going to try and keep it short and to the point.... This is my 2UZ swap...

I've been on the 3fe bandwagon since 2004, I paid my dues to the 3fe gods for 17 years...

Its time to do my 80 a favor and its getting a 2uz....

Currently Sits:
· 3FE
· OME Heavy Duty Suspension (Front and Rear)
· 35's
· ARB Lockers (Front and Rear)
· 4.88 Axle Gears

Future:
· 2uz with 5 speed auto
· 37s
· New suspension... gonna hold that thought until after the swap

I took it to Colorado (from Alabama) last year and that was the last straw for this 3fe. I couldn't do it anymore...

The Donor:

I already knew what I wanted ... I was looking for a complete donor 100/lx470 with 5 spd...

I know a number of 2uz swaps were able to piece parts together from tundras/4runners/etc... but I didn't want to go down that road... I wanted a complete 100 to strip....

For 6 months I actively searched the Coparts, Junkyards, dam near every online car auction/sale site, etc... But I found it here on the MUD classifieds..

Finally, I picked up an 03 lx (bonus with the tranny dipstick)... She runs perfect! I drove her as a daily for couple months to make sure all was good on the drivetrain!

She is pretty!!! Until you look closer. She's all rust.... Complete rust bucket...

Timing Belt / Water Pump / All Pulleys replaced / Valve cover gaskets / Plugs etc....

I swapped out the 35 MTs for some stockers

Pulled the Bumper/Winch....

Little more progress today...

I enlisted the help of @Zjohnsonua going forward... we'll be doing install at his shop...

We made good time today yanking the 3fe in just under 3 hours...

The next few days, between beer and football, we'll be cleaning up the engine bay and planning the install...

I like the game plan. I'm sure all the Hundy owners will start freaking out when 80 owners start snatching up their vehicles for donors, rather than Hundy folks buying up 80s for the frames and axles. I especially like seeing the rust bucket being well utilized.

I agree.. a 100 SAS is an awesome project but a 2uz 80 is one of the best Cruisers Toyota never made... IMO...

I never knew that the 5-speed had a trans dipstick. I thought that it was only the 4 speed 100's.
