Thanks for the quick feedback. I believe t-stat is 180*. Fans are computer controlled and kick on at 204* I believe. Shop that did install did tune trans and shift point during the final motor tune and so far the shifting seems great. You aren’t too far away from me so would love to let you check it out and see what you think of the final setup.
I would love to take a look at it and go for a ride!

What Bluetooth OBD2 Scanners are yall using for iPhones?

Just using a scan gauge here.

Somewhat related: I popped a PO315 yesterday. Nothing wild but looks like I need to have the crankshaft sensor relearn procedure done. Could take it to a dealer since they have the tool but any other recommendations? Might prefer to invest in the tool myself so I’m not reliant on a dealer.

Shop in town did the crankshaft sensor relearn for me; no cost. She is happy again by still wonder how it lost its relearn in the first place.

If you have the ecu replaced or reflashed a crank relearn needs to be done.
Thanks! I did gather that in my quick reading after the check engine light came on. Still seemed odd as it was performed by the shop who completed the swap. They said if it happens again, they're going to fedex me a whole new ECU.

Drove 50 miles to work this morning though and all is well.

Figured I'd cross post my dyno printout I finally got from the shop. This is a 6.2L

What kind of temps are y'all seeing?
I have a stock brass radiator, summit universal shroud, and mechanical fan. I fell like I'm running to hot.
Yesterday I did a new fan clutch. Temps in the lower 70's and I'm running in the 200 to 205 range. At a light it gets up the 210-215 range.
I'm in the Denver metro so thin air too.
I'm looking at hood louvers, and maybe an aluminum radiator.....
What tricks have y'all used to get the temps down??

Mine are posted on page 112, #2238. Your numbers aren't too far off from mine.

New OEM radiator, dual electric fans. As suggested, I'm not going to make a judgement until we get a 100* day and I can tow something up a decent grade. It'll be 8 months before summer temps come back around so :meh:

I'm still mentally adjusting to temps that will go from 170* cruising at highway speeds with 45* outside temps, to 205* when I come to stoplight for a few mins.

I looked right over that post.... Thanks!

Jeez that a huge swing! I don't see 170⁰ running down the road even in the 20⁰s. Stock radiator and mech fan here. This morning it was right around 45⁰ outside, intake temp was showing 85⁰ and my coolant temp was at 185⁰ and didn't move more than 2⁰ up or down from that while sitting at idle, or traveling down the road during a 20min trip.

During the summer (Florida) it ranges from 185⁰ to 194⁰. Max at 197⁰ with AC running. I've hit 200⁰ once or twice in a drive thru in summer with AC on.

The swing is a crazy. I've not gotten the sense it's a problem, but does seem odd. I've seen 210ish pushing it on the highway in warm temps while running AC and I've seen 210 ish crawling in 4Lo.

interesting data point about your intake temp. I'll check it, but with outside temps at 40* this morning, I recall seeing intake temps within 20* of that. I have a snorkel and OE air cleaner so maybe that's why?

I’ve got the stock airbox and OEM filter also.

210 on the highway is crazy, IMO. I’ve never even seen 200° traveling down the road. Even 80mph loaded down across country in July-August.

I’ve touched 210° once since the swap. It was while barely moving crawling in Moab in August with the AC running. I cut the AC off and it was back to sub 200°

I'm 3 linked so I can't run the OEM air box. I'm just running a cone filter at the end of a 4" alum tube.
I'm going to buy an OEM clutch for the fan and see what happens.

Details on the rest of your cooling system? (radiator, fans, etc.) It is wild how stable your temps are, and how much of a swing being seen on this side.

Some people really don’t like them, but if you don’t mind the look the snorkel REALLY makes a difference with intake temps. You could tie into it using this for filtration:

I’ve used on a LS swapped K5 Blazer (ironically using a 80series snorkel on it too)

It’s totally OEM GM. 180° t-stat, non HD fan clutch, Express van fan (it has slightly larger diameter and more blades) and Koyo radiator.

I doubt the van fan makes much difference if any over the truck one, I just went with it and made a shroud to accommodate it’s diameter.

More random coolant temp data. Driving Home from work now. 62° outside and cruising at 70 to 75 mph. Intake temp 69* at cruising speed.

At cruising speed, temps 170-182*

Hit gridlock traffic for a few mins. Temps 195-206 with electric fans kicking in at 204*.

The more I read on various Chevy forums, the broader range of operating temperatures I see. The consensus however does it seem to be, that anything under 220° is fine.

I hate snorkels, but i'm not opposed to trying that universal in line air box. I still have the plastic piece in the fender that the stock air box connects to.

Alright. I'm going to try a 180* thermostat, and an OEM fan clutch and see what happens. I like the temps you're getting @thatcabledude

Thanks y'all!!
