Yeah I figured there was. How long did it take to complete?
Before you consider a swap, check out your local emissions laws regarding engine swaps and what emissions components you need if you install a 5.3. Then go to the 1st page of this thread and start reading, some of the posts have links to specific build threads so click on those too and they usually go into specific build details. Then youll get an idea of what your up against. I probably have a couple hundred hours into my v8 swap. Most shops charge around 25 to 30k to do a swap. I recommend paying a reputable shop to do it.

Having trouble getting the evap monitor to pass. Looks like I need a gm fuel sender, without it the evap system wont set the monitor to pass. Not sure if I'll just wire in a resistor so the ecu always thinks this tank is 1/2 full or actually install the sender.
I never had to deal with emissions testing, but tough to give up the OEM dash fuel gage

If I put it in the tank I'll only use the gm sender for the ecu. So I'll have 2 senders
I’ve got the same problem. Have the sender in the tank and still won’t set the evap to ready. Can anyone help?!

Can anyone help?!
I think that needs to be addressed with HP tuners........
That's what i have read anyways.....
I have the same thing going even did the resistor to trick the ECM.... EVAP still reads not ready

If all the related codes aren't enabled then it wont set the monitor. I believe if secondary o2 codes aren't all enabled then it also affects evap readiness. That's what I've read anyway

I don't know how y'all deal with that mess. Seems like tampering with the gas tank would be a automatic fail?

I read on someone's build the testing guy (ref?) was making him use the tank from the engine's original vehicle.

I imagine getting the evap system working properly will probably reduce overall fuel usage.

Engine swapped with my brother.
Lots of TLC - Gen IV 6.0L with 6l80e in an 80 series.

Just what mods (if any) you made to the crossmember. Just trying to work out strategies for my build. Namely since you used the 6l80e as well.
I will get you photos in a couple of days – traveling now. I had to hit the fire wall a bit and drill the cross-member PS ~1inch forward and DS ~.75 inch forward. There was a post on mud about this.

I routed the exhaust with the cats too close to the passenger seat, sway bar mounts and shift cable. As a result, I cut the sway bar mounts and extended them. The new crossmember will cradle the tcase so I can run the exhaust lower (under the cross member not over it). Exhaust is 2.5 to 3 inch out SS with dual mufflers (adding a resonator when I start routing). I’m using Marks adapter because I didn’t want to swap axels and change gas tanks.
