Quick update with pics! I took the day off to work on the 60 and get some landscaping done. This has been a good day; another milestone.
First couple pics of both ft/rr driveshafts after tearing down, cleaning, and painting:
Pics of firewall after 2nd coat of black:
Pic after dropping body onto frame; getting ready for quarter panel replacement:
Rolled out of the shop and hosed off. It's been a while since she's seen the daylight.

Here's a pic of the LR skin; ended up being a little rough after removing it from the donor so I'll be doing some hammer/dolly work:

Nice! What did you end up using to paint the firewall and and underside with? Single stage black?

Thanks! I ended up using a single stage black paint designed for implements (tractors and crap) from the local farm supply store. I reduced it and added a catalyst hardener to it to be able to spray it.

Here are some more pics from last night. I pulled the back glass and tailgate. Ended up finding a small spot of rust under the tailgate/hatch weatherstrip.
Sequence of events for rear glass removal:
First, remove chrome trim from weatherstrip.
Next, use a series of screwdrivers to work the inner weatherstrip up, out, and over the pinch weld:
Remove glass:
Other side:
Picture of the original root beer color; weatherstrip channels are really clean with no rust.
I then pulled the tailgate (its being replaced anyway) to make it easier to remove the quarter panels:
Rust spot under both bottom corners of weatherstrip. I have a feeling I'll be a rust repairing pro by the time this is done...

Okay, we spent Saturday and Sunday at the lake, so there was no time for the cruiser. I did get a few hours on it today; here's a quick update:
Ended up pulling all the doors, hatch glass, hatch, and windshield (which f***ing cracked during removal; oh well, it had a couple stars anyway).
My rust paranoia is growing, so I decided it made the most sense to pull the interior out to be sure everything was okay (also the reason I pulled the windshield).
Wouldn't you know, 3 more small rust spots (luckily these are all clean on the 2 patch panels I have):
As she sits now; time to hang out with my wife:

Seat Brackets

My wheel wells looked like that where my seat brackets were too. There is a panel on the inner wheel wheel that that "holds" moisture until it rusts through to the inside. You can see the 3 vertical lines on yours where the raised portions are.
You are probably going to have to remove the inside metal (8? spotwelds) and the outer plate as well (12? spotwelds)
Here is mine from inside the wheel well. I didn't look too bad from the outside, but the inside was rusted like yours.

Yeah, I was noticing the correlation between the outer support bracket and the rusted area before I came in the house. How did you end up repairing yours? Was your outer brace salvageable? Mine has no signs of rust from the outside...and luckily the patch panels I have came with clean inner fender wells. This rust repair is fun stuff, huh?
