Rusty pieces?
They look worse in person lol
Just goes to prove: Even when you think that you are finished, there is always something... :)
Very true! I still have this downtime before I can register it, so I am thinking of what to do before then.

The rear heater is getting warm and I got the fan to work again, but there is no front heat coming out at all. So, I ordered a new heater valve and plan to flush the core while it's all apart. Once this is all wrapped up there really shouldn't be too much more to do 🤞

Split the fan clutch and dropped in some 10k cst fluid. I also did this on my Tacoma a while back with good results.

Note that the aluminum radiator will add a bit of bling to the front of the 40. I have one and it works great, but I wish it was the OEM black (which you can still get). Looking great though

Then you'll love my master plan to paint it black ;). I don't want it to stand out, but do want the advantages aluminum radiators offer.

Can those clamps be disassembled like the OE ones so they can be put in place without having to drain coolant and pull the hose?

A lot of the grill mesh was blasted off and turned to rusty raw metal. I wire wheeled the whole thing and hit it with some rust reformer. Then a few coats of steelit and a fresh Toyota emblem!

Then it was time to mount the oem passenger side replacement mirror arm. The new mirror arm color didn’t match the original driver side mirror at all, and they don’t offer a replacement for that side. So I scuffed both up and painted them with the closest match I could find to the new color, and then a coat of enamel clear to finish it off. After that I polished the hardware, swapped out the base gaskets, and transferred the new mirrors over.

Nice work!

FYI Prismatic "Vegas Gold" is an almost perfect match to the OEM silver.

As easy as the core is to get to, you could also pull it and either have it cleaned at local rad a shop or run it through an ultrasonic cleaner. I'm interested to see how the chinese radiator works out.

I have never found music in an FJ40 to be something that was pleasurable. Especially with the single stock speaker. Seeing those holes in your doors makes me cringe.

It is a powder coat color, which you should be using in place of a spray can. Powder is ridiculously simple, and way faster than spray cans. I use the dual voltage gun from Eastwood.

I'm not sure what your deal is, but your contributions in this thread have had a negative tone. Please refrain from posting in here.
