Darn you to heck for reminding me I need to do this.Somehow dim lights led me to disassembling the cluster to clean the foggy lens and swapping in some led bulbs. I opted not to remove the light shields, but did decide to pull the speedo cable and re-grease it while it was apart.

Haha it wasn’t too bad to tackle. The speedo cable is the only hard part to remove before the cluster will come outDarn you to heck for reminding me I need to do this.
Part 10 is live
Thank you! Thankfully I learned a lot from this great forumThis is So awe inspiring. You make it look so damn easy.! lol. Congrats!
Thank you! I definitely plan to get it out. Just waiting on the dmv to send the registration renewal, and then I have to deal with smog lol...Congratulations on “finishing” the truck. It looks amazing. Of course you’re never done. So get out there and enjoy it. Take to a cars and coffee and watch people drool!
I actually had some extra 194 led bulbs that fit, and I think just cleaning the gauge cluster glass alone will help with visibility at night. What LED's did you use
But the audience demands a night time movie with the new and improved instrument cluster lighting.Thank you! Thankfully I learned a lot from this great forum

This is the link for the bulbs I used in the cluster
These last ok just about perfect to me. Which bulbs did you use?I did LED and mine are just right now. Not bright, but bright enough. Like yours, this pic makes them look brighter than they really are. Rotating the LIGHTS knob makes a difference too.

Congrats on driving it! Looks great and I like the new hashtag
Remove the harness from the clamp for the steering column/turn signals assy and move to the side, then you can reach straight up to speedo cable and disconnect. Super easy. Same for reassemblyHaha it wasn’t too bad to tackle. The speedo cable is the only hard part to remove before the cluster will come out![]()
I used the ones from Super Bright LEDs, they always ship super fast and prices are good. From @GA Architect's suggestion I believe. Note that these won't fit some earlier 40s. I forget what year they swapped. These last ok just about perfect to me. Which bulbs did you use?
