Somehow dim lights led me to disassembling the cluster to clean the foggy lens and swapping in some led bulbs. I opted not to remove the light shields, but did decide to pull the speedo cable and re-grease it while it was apart.

This is So awe inspiring. You make it look so damn easy.! lol. Congrats!
Thank you! Thankfully I learned a lot from this great forum 🤙
Congratulations on “finishing” the truck. It looks amazing. Of course you’re never done😀. So get out there and enjoy it. Take to a cars and coffee and watch people drool!
Thank you! I definitely plan to get it out. Just waiting on the dmv to send the registration renewal, and then I have to deal with smog lol...
What LED's did you use
I actually had some extra 194 led bulbs that fit, and I think just cleaning the gauge cluster glass alone will help with visibility at night.

But the audience demands a night time movie with the new and improved instrument cluster lighting.

I did what I always do and went full disassembly 😆. I'll post pics as soon as I get it all buttoned up!

I have spent a few hours trying to get the haze off the paint on the dash using a few different cutting compounds by hand. I think this will satisfy me for now, given that I did not remove the upper dash pad and knobs for a proper polishing wheel. I still have to do the rest of the interior paint but that will be a project for a later day. This was mainly to get it ready for the radio install and put it all back together nice and clean at the same time.

Amazing looking rig!
Congrats on all your work you put into it.
Hope to see you at some cars and Coffee events in the future.
Well done 👍🏽

Haha it wasn’t too bad to tackle. The speedo cable is the only hard part to remove before the cluster will come out 👍🏼
Remove the harness from the clamp for the steering column/turn signals assy and move to the side, then you can reach straight up to speedo cable and disconnect. Super easy. Same for reassembly

These last ok just about perfect to me. Which bulbs did you use?
I used the ones from Super Bright LEDs, they always ship super fast and prices are good. From @GA Architect's suggestion I believe. Note that these won't fit some earlier 40s. I forget what year they swapped.
