So I am an idiot (no surprise there). The stupid washers that go behind the wheel bearings between the axle tube and the wheel bearing. I forgot to put them back in and now the axle is totally assembled. I really don't understand what their purpose is anyways, is it going to kill anything if I just leave them out?

Probably a type of thrust washer that reduces the side-to-side movement. You’ll probably have to destroy the new bearings to get them off? That sucks. Probably be better than having your c-clips come off and the axle come out going down the road![]()
Google "Oil Slinger", "Shaft-Mounted Rotary Seals" or "Oil Flinger"I don’t understand why it would help stop oil flow if that bearing is dependent on the gear oil for lubrication and you have an oil seal on the other side.
I give mine the drill every chance get
The inner race has a bunch of extra room to go in or out and still ride on the bearings this washer is just a plain jane washer only maybe 1mm thick. It doesn't have anything to do with spacing the wheel bearing to the correct spot. It is definitely an oil slinger. It doesn't rotate it just sits on the back side of the bearing race to provide a backsplash where the oil can make it into the bearing but has a harder time making it back out.
That’s what I’ve been saying since page ONE!Where did you come from![]()
That is some serious Ornch!Got the shocks and sway bar mounted waiting for u-bolts to dry. Farm and implement paint is awesome.
