Possibility that it sat for a really long time. Never heard of it happening with a wheel bearing, but I know of it happening to FL Smidth mill gearbox bearings.

Almost looks like the outer race was spinning in the hub causing the rollers to spin on the race instead of around it.

Is it me, but I'm seeing a large groove in your knuckle ball. Is that some damage due to the bearings failing?

Nah its fine. Yeah all the parts will get painted once it is together. I sandblasted literally everything including the axle housings.

I am wondering why you didnt paint before you reassembled?

I wasn't sure exactly what was going to be exposed and what wasn't, plus that paint is THICK so if you get it on a mating surface area I just didn't want to deal with it. Stuff that is on the inside sealed with grease I'm not worried about.
