NV4500, there's an aftermarket fifth gear back off preventer, good to install. Good to install. If fifth gear backs off, will create mess. 4th gear direct drive. If grinds in 4th, and 5th gear still available bearing issues and your into a trans rebuild. Not cheap.

Like the nv4500, but rebuilds will be needed.

NV4500 are persnickety to gear fluid too. Ran Pennzoil full synthetic with better results. Little bit harder to find but better results. Not cheap, $20-25/q.

Yeah my NV4500 actually has a part number for fluid on it. Did you have trouble with the offset diff on your 60? The 205 rear flange comes out a little passenger side but not as much as a split.

Prefer Pennzoil gear oil ... bad gear oil and the tranny is scrap metal.

No problems, stock dodge setup. With these swaps never gonna line up perfect.

Disclaimer: Wasn't the original builder, just fixing mistakes and improving.

That part number, iirc, crosswalks to Castrol product.

Check with a trans rebuilder on fluid. Fluid for these is not a trivial issue.

Does anyone besides Diesel Adapters make a kit? I've been searching online and they seem to be the only game in town and that $10k price tag seems really steep to me.

Nope, but the NV4500 kit is cheaper I think it's about 7500

Has anyone executed the 6BT swap with this kit, or know of anyone that has?

I have searched around and looks like several have done it custom, but have not found one using this kit:

FZJ80 Landcruiser

The price seems high until you consider the potential ease of install and supportability down the road. I am looking at doing something like this down the line and in research mode right now.

Thoughts??? Thanks in advance.

I have two 80's with this swap kit installed by DA. I love them!! Got sell one though, can't keep them both! The kits are great, you won't find a better kit out there. I considered all the options that you are. Long story, to much to type out. If you're still interested PM me.

Bumping this since DA is no longer in business. Looking to potentially do a 6bt/NV4500/HF2A swap.

I’ve been down the rabbit hole of 4bt/6bt swap threads this week for my 80 (or 60) looking over @Mr Cimarron @Wheelingnoob @Dirty Koala @boots4 @Hojack etc.

It looks like the Wits End NV4500-HF2A conversion kit is about the only deal in town these days.

I am fine with making motor mounts and trans crossmember. My main concern is AC and accessory brackets that DA used to make. Does anyone else make adapters needed or can you still find DA parts from other vendors? Any advice for a Cummins swap in general?

I would stay away from anything DA related even if you got it for free. No need to use it.
AC lines can be converted by any AC shop. It's just crimping on new fittings or hose to use the Dodge compressor.
Accessory mount available here but there are others out there as well. 80 series motor mounts here also. B-Series Cummins HD High Mount AC Bracket Kit - Adventure Vehicles NW

Thanks for the link @Mr Cimarron very helpful.

On your 2 6bt swaps, have you been happy with the NV4500? What clutch bucket did you source for yours?

Also I noticed your 80 swap has a split case and your 75 build you’re using the HF2A. What was the reasoning in going split case in your 80? Would you do the HF2A instead if you could?

When my 80 was built the Advance Adapter for split case was the only thing available. It will soon (maybe end of summer) be switch to HF2A like the 75.
The NV4500 is a true truck trans. It kinda drives like a dump truck through the first few gears but no complaints.
For clutch bucket I sourced an OEM 80 series.

I’m running dodge compressor and converted lines. Frame clearance could be an issue depending on engine placement but totally doable.

All of my stuff is one off so I wouldn’t get hung up on diesel adapters being gone. Their accessory bracket sucked anyway. How many times did you guys have to replace the water neck?

They did make some cool stuff for retaining cruise control though and thats one thing I wish I still had.

Cim,

Which size outlet did you go with? I am considering switching up my accessory bracket when I rebuild my 6BT.
