Rats!! I can't believe I found the FJ that came off the line just before mine, and now I can't find it! I am trying to restore the driver's seat back to the original configuration and the info. that he could have provided could have been really helpful.
You can try to send him a private message. Maybe he gets an email notification.
For you questions you should go to the FJ25 section. The early 60’s FJ40 owners can be found there.

Thanks. Unsure of how to do that...?

Hey! Anyone reading this: I wanted to do this a million years ago, as I’ve been a ‘mudder since 2004, and had my 40 for more than 30 years now. I’d like to add my truck details to the registry.
FJ40202302 6/75 355 SBC in Freeborn Red. Original trans, free, and axles.
I’ve never had the 2F, but would LOVE to find the exact engine if possible. Our Cruiser community is a “LARGE SMALL” one, so perhaps someone has the actual 2F from my truck.
I estimate that the V8 swap was done sometime in the mid ‘80s. The truck was from San Diego/SoCal. I purchased it in 1994, there in San Diego.

Ralph,

I believe you will need the engine VIN to find your engine, not the chassis VIN. It is my understanding that these numbers do not match each other. I have an original data plate on my '63 FJ40 and the engine VIN is listed there (correctly) The chassis VIN is not the same.
This is correct. They are not matching like a Chevelle. There are a few build threads that I've seen on here where this has been done.

@mudpaws you would need to find a 2F with a stamp that is around the date 6/75. There's some data out there like this chart if you search: Frequently Asked Questions About Your Land Cruiser - Specter Off-Road - https://www.sor.com/cat/005b#tab2

There's a guy on here that has some data where he is extrapolating the most likely birthday. It's on the front page but if I see the link I'll post it here.

@DirtDauberGarage is doing the birthday thing, which is awesome by the way.

Yes. I had known that. That does make it a little more “needle in a haystack”-like. 😅
At least I can check into the info you guys have provided. I have to go back onto SOR’s site.. and I guess meanwhile if anyone comes across a June ‘75 engine.. that’d be amazing!

VIN is the vehicle identification number. Engines have just a serial number not a VIN. I know my 9/64 FJ45LP-B still had the engine serial number on the firewall plaque. Was some time after that the engine serial number was no longer on the under the hood plaque. My 9/67 FJ40 does not have the original engine serial number.

The F engines were used in other vehicles so would really be impossible to have the engine serial number match the vehicle VIN.

Well folks, it's about time to register here!

This is my BJ42 (9/1984, last of the breed), German market model: 3B N/A diesel, factory H55F 5 spd, front discs, NO P/S (update: factory P/S recently added!), frame-off restored at a Toyota dealership in Germany.
Instead of the 464 40-Series beige opted for the 4E9 beige, actually a 60- and 70-Series colour (but period correct).
The steelies are OEM 16' split rims and the skinnies (2nd and 3rd pics) 7.50R16 Avon Rangemaster, OEM tyres for the LR Defender.
OME 2.5' inch suspension kit (thank you @HawkDriver for your suggestions!)

Pics in Germany (at the departure/goodbye party) and in Greece (cruising and meeting friends)...
