I wonder if any of the factory diff lock hardware would be backwards compatible to the 200 🤔

The gas tank fill port on the driver's side is reason enough to upgrade! :D

Right? I do miss that feature from my 4-runner. Or the powered rear vent windows on my 100-series.

I don't disagree on the MY2016 and there is some truth there based on the original 10 yr or less cadence: 60-series (1980), 80-series (1990), 100-series (1998), 200-series (2007).... 300-series (2021)

Oh man. I'm with you on that one. I really really hope that Toyota doesn't take the strategy - V6 more efficient, let's reduce tank size accordingly to save weight and improve payload. Especially crappy in the US as we get dinged further in range with piss grade ethanol fuel that has less energy content by volume.

@TeCKis300 on the money again.

Another LC another series of mistakes by toyota....
Before were the removable third row, third row vented windows, night vision, center console storage, and rear AC toggle button, all stupidly gone with the 200, now the split hatch is gone???
I hope the payload and tank have not been shrunk as you are describing.

I also see that this now loses the manual parking brake, something reserved for the LXs before so you cant really control it how you like and if you don't use auto mode, you're sitting there holding a button like an idiot. Takes 10 times as long as just a simple pull lever.

Good job toyota, you added a turbo and removed a bunch of s*** we all want.

I knew all of this was coming and I welcome the weight saving but the ONE thing I really wanted was a panoramic sunroof. That or a hybrid drivetrain which makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE than a turbo, not to mention that toyota has all of the technology in place to do it. I think there are plans however for the LX h...

This car seems to be going in the 4 runner direction as a cash cow for toyota, and i don't like it at all. They are leaning far too heavily on brand name and reliability. Its no wonder they dont want to sell it here in the US. That part actually makes sense. The price is not really justifiable anymore.

How silly of me to think Toyota is in the business of making money. Someone should start a change.gov petition about something something. Perhaps send a prayer or two in addition to Facebook likes, to really drive the point home.

Until you realize you’ve been trained by your 200 to always pull up on the passenger side 😉

I don't see how in any way I'm saying they should do otherwise?

You could easily modernize the 4 Runner via nothing but software and a better nav screen, and it wouldn't diminish the capabilities of the vehicle one bit. Why would toyota do it when they can bank on people rushing to buy it with very little investment? Its not good for you or I, but its a cash cow for toyota.
But i guess here you are proving the point and defending... IDK what exactly are you even trying to insinuate?

The LC is now going the same route, which is bad for you and I and at this price point, a highway robbery for toyota.
It's ok to criticize toyota, thats how we get better cars along with competition.

Clearly.

Toyota makes business decisions based on their belief of what will maximize the ROI. If that means turning a vehicle into a "cash cow," then that's exactly what they will do. If they thought it was profitable to keep selling the LC in the US, they would still be selling it. If they thought that removing the "bunch of s*** we all want" was not going to be profitable, they would not have removed it. Toyota does not care about what you, I, or any other enthusiast thinks; they care about the people and markets that actually buy these vehicles, and 99.99% of those buyers' wants have little to no overlap with ours.

If it's so easy, please go ahead and do it. I'm sure you'll have buyers lined up around the block and will be rolling in money in no time. After all, your extensive market research has clearly shown that's the only thing people care about, right?

Look dude, I TRULY don't understand what you think you're arguing for here.

I did not say i was retrofitting 4 runners, i did not say toyota is making a bad business decision, i actually said the opposite.
I understand the business principle behind all of this very well. Thats why i described it to you. And why the car isnt coming to the US.

You are clearly upset someone dared to say anything bad about the 300 and you are creating a straw-man out of nothing.
You dont need to be sarcastic when you don't even have a point. Its rude. Youre arguing against your own misunderstanding.

I want to use the new KDSS/front sway bar in my 200.
BINGO!!! way better shape for big tires on the new one, proly go 37's!!! 🥴

NO TAILGATE!? C'mon man! WTF, Toyota.
I'm mixed on this one. On one hand it's kinda nice to be able to sit on the tailgate or use it as a table. I also like being able to open the top of the trunk and see what's in there (and keep stuff from rolling out as I open the bottom). OTOH with taller tires and a mild lift I can't reach sh*t that's more than half way into the trunk unless I climb up on the tailgate, which is just silly.

I'm surprised they finally decided to go with an electric fan. I've always liked the Toyota truck jet-engine-will-suck-in-small-animals sound on startup.
That was a signature sound
