I'm mixed on this one. On one hand it's kinda nice to be able to sit on the tailgate or use it as a table. I also like being able to open the top of the trunk and see what's in there (and keep stuff from rolling out as I open the bottom). OTOH with taller tires and a mild lift I can't reach sh*t that's more than half way into the trunk unless I climb up on the tailgate, which is just silly.

I just spend a lot of time backed up to a river or the ocean and using it as a seat. Something about sitting on a tailgate with a beer in my hand just feels right.

I wonder if it would even open in my garage. Im currently barely clearing my garage door with the split hatch.

The ability to put the tailgate down and close the liftgate to use the tailgate as a step for roof access is a very nice feature too. I use it quite regularly.

The clearance on the new KDSS is awesome. Wonder how the electric version will hold up over time. May actually be cheaper to fix a failure.

If they offered the GR sport in NA, I'd buy one today. WTF Toyota?
Yes, Toy really missing a golden opportunity IMHO. LC 300 for Lexus and GR Sport for Toyota. Would imagine they could easily double or triple the sales that the 200 had! And please allow customers to tweak the options a bit. Just SMH at not considering this as an option.

Now, THAT is a great idea!

Couple of GR pictures.

I'm ambivalent on the fold flat third row seating, but they do raise a question:

Since space is required for the seats to fold down, what is possibly lost? My big question is:

Is there still a full-size spare tire?

My immediate reaction is that, of course, there has to be a full-size spare on any true offroad capable vehicle, right? But Toyota isn't saying, so I am asking.

And BTW, why the return to 6-lug wheels?

They appear to have raised the height of the rear floor significantly. Whats interesting there is…-what happens when seats are removed? Is there a big curb in the middle?

Noticed 6-lug too.

Is there an advantage or disadvantage to 6 lug vs. 5- lug?

The spare is full sized. See this video at 15:27. Looks pretty tight however with limited room for a larger tire.

Ya, I wonder
Maybe they just want to simplify.
Most of the rest of the world seems to use 6… like Tacoma, etc.

5 seems to be an anomaly for such a large, heavy vehicle.
